What's causing my Ford C-Max alarm to go off intermittently for no apparent reason?

My Ford C-Max car alarm has been intermittently operating, mainly at night. I have single-click locked the car on the key fob so as to not set the internal motion sensors, but it is still happening. Do you have any suggestions what could be causing this? The temperature at night has not been changing significantly.

Over sensitive sensor or a spider crawling over it. If you can't find the spider, try switching the vents to recirculate and that should minimise externally sourced air disturbances inside the car.
