Leasing a BMW 1 series - petrol or diesel?

I've been looking at leasing a 1 Series after finding that my employer offers some good deals for this particular car, but I'm unsure over whether to get a petrol or diesel.

My dad has always said if you're doing less than 15k a year then stay petrol and I'm thinking along this route as we'll be doing 8-10k miles pa and a daily drive is less than 10 miles.

Yes, better petrol for this sort of use. Might have trouble with the BMW ED battery charging and with the DPF on the diesel.
