Swapping a 406 for a Touran?

My Peugeot 406 is struggling to tow my one ton folding camper. Not enough power and it doesn't feel very stable. Garage also told me the DMF is on its last legs, the handbrake is rubbish and generally things are starting to break (e.g. central locking, heated mirrors). The car has done 96,000 miles.

My sister is planning to sell her Volkswagen Touran. I've tested it towing my camper and it feels a whole lot better - more power and much more stable. I can't really afford to buy a replacement car, but at least the Touran is in the family though it has done 89,000 miles.

Is there anything I should be wary of? What is a fair price for the Touran? What is the best way of disposing of the 406? I certainly wouldn't want to offer it to anyone I know.

That 2.0TDI VAG engine has a lot of problems. Check them out in car by car before committing. In contract a lot of taxi drivers have had 300k reliable miles out of 406 2.0HDIs.
