Which small economical car?

I currently own a Skoda Fabia 1.2 54bhp Classic which has done nearly 115000 trouble free miles and will do 47 mpg when driven carefully.
I'm looking towards getting this replaced soon. I travel around 500 miles a week on mainly motorways and A roads so would like a refined car, 5 door, reliability is very important as is fuel economy. I have about £7500-8000 to spend.
What would you recommend?

You qualify for a diesel. I'd look at a Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI or a KIA cee'd 1.6CRDI.
