Why won't Mercedes-Benz honour its Mobilo warranty for models suffering with rust?

Recently you have mentioned the problem of "rusty Mercs", and the unwillingness of Mercedes-Benz to honour its 30-year Mobilo warranty. Like other Mercedes-Benz owners, what I would like to know is whether Mercedes-Benz can legally and unilaterally break its Mobilo contract? I am sure many other Mercedes-Benz owners would be grateful if you could clarify this point. Is it, for example, worth my while taking them to the small claims court on this matter?

Seems that the way it is worded, Mercedes-Benz can because that is what it is doing. I don't think Mercedes-Benz can afford to meet all of these claims. If there was a way of bringing them to task, then ADAC would have done it in Germany, or the TUV itself would have taken direct action.
