Going spare over Ibiza spare wheel

Having a Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI SE 5 door on order and having verified with my dealer that it would come with a full size (steel) spare wheel, I was alarmed to read that they are now only supplied with a can of goo:-

I contacted my local dealer who said this was news to him and that he had had cars delivered in January with full size spares. He says that should mine arrive with either can of goo or spacesaver he will ensure that it is indeed supplied with a proper spare. He phoned again today and the story is the same - more cars delivered and proper spares.

I'm also puzzled since in the brochures and on the SEAT Website I can find no reference to a full size spare being an option and it does not appear on the January pricelist.

Both dealer and I wonder if the original question applies to the Ecomotive model since it might be done to reduce the weight.

So I keep my fingers crossed. This was one of the factors in choosing this particular car. Even on the cars where a proper spare is available as an option (and it isn't always), the luggage capacity goes down alarmingly. E.g. new Ford Focus - down from 316 (spacesaver) to 277 litres (full size). That is less than the Ibiza's 292 litres and the car is a size larger. Fiesta down from 295 litres (goo can) to 281 litres (undersize steel spare).

The spec has been downgraded. You have to pay extra for a space saver or full size spare. Forget brochures. Specs can change at any time between order and delivery.
