Economical, with the truth

I thought you would be interested in the problems I am experiencing with my KIA Cee'd SW 1.6 LS CRDi. When I bought the car I did not expect to achieve the published 57.6mpg combined figure but on good long steady runs I did hope to get around 52. I am getting more like 45 on a run. Whilst I am generally pleased with the car which has now covered just over 9000 miles I do believe that KIA are miss-selling the cars economy. Have you had any other comments about this car?

Someone won a case against MB in Germany for publishing official EC figures (which it is required by law to do) but which could not be met in real life. We will have to wait for further developments. It is, in fact, possible for manufacturers to ‘cheat' the EC tests to achieve an exaggerated result. On the other hand, by driving ‘my’ Focus ECOnetic sensibly, I can achieve and even better the official combined economy. And plenty of readers have come up with economy for the Cee’d 1.6CRDI of close to 50mpg.
