Kia Picanto - blowing the 10amp fuel pump fuse 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Over the past few months after filling the fuel tank the 10 amp fuse blows in the fusebox located under the dashboard. I have had our local auto electrical engineer check the electrical wiring and connections and he assures me there is no fault in the car's electrical system but suggest it could be the pump, which is not easy to get at. -
Peugeot 306 LX 1.4 petrol - Fuel pump noise 28 Oct 2012 (Forum)
During the last few days we have become aware of our fuel pump. I am not sure if it has got louder or if it should be cutting out. It runs momentarily prior to the engine starting but once started it appears to run continuously. Is this normal? -
Peugeot 405 1.9TD 1995 XUD9 TE/L - Should I use original or an equivilent. 8 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I replaced the fuel filter a few months ago after a breakdown, (symptoms of running out of fuel). This fixed the car and that started another problem. difficult starting. I now have to prime the fuel on a regular basis to start. -
Renault Laguna SPT - Cruise Control v Speed Limiter 18 May 2012 (Forum)
I read a lot about "Cruise Control" and that it increases fuel consumption. How is the fuel consumption affected when using the "Speed Limiter"? I have both on my car, I only ever use the cruise control on long Motorway journeys, I can override the this by pressing on the accelerator. -
Nissan Micra K11 - Micra K11 92 fuel problem 3 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Hi. I have a nissan micra k11 cabrio. When my fuel level falls to 1/4 of a tank, the engine cuts on right turns. The car will start immediately or bump start once i straighten out and continue until i do another right turn or take a right bend. If i leave the car off for an hour or so, it starts and drives ok including right turns but only for a couple of minutes then it starts cutting out again. -
Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta Mk3 Fuel Filler Rust 7 May 2010 (Forum)
It is in exceptionally good condition for its year, both inside and out. However a small amount of bubbling has started to appear around the fuel filler area. I have read else where on the net that this is eventually pretty much terminal for MK3 Fiestas. I would like to know if this is the case, and what sort of costs would be involved in repair. -
Best way to protect your vehicle from theft 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
other than park the cars in the garage, which i dont usually do, how else can i/you make the car less prone to fuel theft? i did post on another thread a while back how someone we knew had their fuel stolen but 2/300 quids of damage to the underside as the cut a pipe or something thank you! btw, out our previous address i used to park the merc right up against a wall/pillar and in line with the fuel cap. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - Turbo diesel starting problems 6 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Ive tried changing all the glow plugs, but that hasn't sorted it. Im thinking that maybe theres a problem with air getting in the fuel, so i want to try and bleed the fuel system. So ive looked at my haynes manual, but it says to loosen the bleed screw in the fuel pump inlet pipe union bolt, but doesnt explain where that is. So if anyone can explain where the bleed screw is, or shed any light on anything else that could be causing the problem, i would very much appreciate the help. -
Unusual or confusing car problems / defects. 11 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The queueing for fuel thread reminded me of a problem I had many years ago. I had a Renault 4 which would often misfire, and in freezing temperatures would not run. The misfire was caused by water in the fuel, and when a slug of water froze in the pipe from the tank to the pump, no go! -
Peugeot 405 Diesel (1988 - 1996) - 95 1905 Air in diesel supply 9 May 2009 (Forum)
Please could someone tell me where they are (fuel pump? Fuel filter?) and what order I should bleed them in? I would be grateful as it is a pest to lift the bonnet morning and evening to get started. -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - vectra estate fuel economy 5 May 2009 (Forum)
Its in fantastic condition and selling for £7,995 from a reputable used car dealership. Im no car expert, and one thing I really need to consider is fuel economy and consumption. I wouldnt be going long distances on a regular basis. Whats attracted me to the car is the fact its a great price for a very young car, and the fact that my Wife and I plan to start a family in the near future and will need the extra room. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.9 Fuel Filter Renewal 16 Jul 2008 (Forum)
This only usually occurs when starting from cold and the problem dissapears after 10 seconds. As I'm unsure about when the fuel filter was last changed, I thought I would start there but i'm unsure as to where it is located, and if any specialist tools are required. Any help much appreciated. Gary. -
Renault Kangoo Combi (1999 - 2004) - 1999 1.9 diesel - stop valve solenoid 13 Jul 2008 (Forum)
RENAULT KANGOO 1.9 DIESEL CODED STOP SOLANOID hello, i have just fitted a diesel pump to my renault kangoo and it didnt pump any fuel through to the injectors , fuel got to the pump but no further . the kangoo is fitted with an imobiliser and i think this stops the fuel stop valve salanoid from oppening using a code. now could i have a new code added , or the old 1 changed , or do i have to take the old solanoid off and fit to the new pump? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2004 1.6 Zetec Auto. Intermittent Starting 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Car fails to start sometimes, usually after I have refuelled. Noticed recently, that fuel cutoff did not work and overfuelled it resulting in fuel spillage at petrol station. This has happened a couple of times at different petrol stations, so now I only fill it 3/4 full. Starting problem only seems to happen the next morning - after i have refuelled. -
Honda Accord UK (1989 - 1993) - 2000 2.0 poor fuel economy 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, My mother-in-law drives the above car (2000 x-plate 2.0 vtec in sport trim), and gets appalling mpg (as a guide, it uses nearly twice as much fuel on a long trip as our 1.8 Avensis; we get about 40mpg+ on a run, she must get early 20s). Local Honda dealer has had it in & change a couple of bits (not sure exactly what), but to no avail. Any ideas as to known issues with this engine? -
Land Rover Freelander (1997 - 2006) - 02 V6 Fuel gauge reading back to front 9 May 2008 (Forum)
Without detailed knowlrdge of this set-up, here's a guess: The sender for the gauge is no longer properly earthed and there is a sneak-feed from the fuel pump positive line to what should have been the sender earth. Check all wiring very carefully against the diagrams if possible. This type of fault is almost invariably poor workmanship rather than a faulty unit - you may well find something has been left off. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 2.0 HDi - Cleaning fuel filter 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I notice in the Haynes manual that when changing the fuel filter (2.0 HDi) it emphasises the need for care when cleaning out the filter housing (understandably). It even mentions not to use 'ordinary' cloths but special ones from the dealer, presumably so there's no chance of bits being left behind. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 2.0, Temp & Fuel Gauges on when ignition off 24 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2002 Focus Estate, 2.0 Zetec, which has developed an odd fault. When I switch the ignition off, the Fuel & Temperature gauges go to the halfway position (normally they park at zero) When the ignition is on, the gauges return to zero then work normally. This only started to happen yesterday, and the only clues I have are that I'd just filled up with petrol and then washed the car. -
Impressive claims for economy - BMW 1 20 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The 118i petrol in particular benefits from substantial improvements, a 0-62mph time of 8.8sec bettering its predecessor by 0.6sec. Fuel consumption is massively improved too, however, now more than 10mpg better than before at 47.9mpg. The 118d diesel is 1.0sec faster than before at 9.0sec, while lower fuel consumption of 60.1mpg makes it BMW's most fuel-efficient model ever." -
Guernsey green road tax 7 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I read in today's Telegraph that about 10 days ago Guernsey introduced changes to their motoring taxes. Fuel has been raised 16p a litre - ouch, but road tax has been scrapped. The basis of this is that you pay tax on the amount of fuel you use, and this is directly based upon how much you use your car and how economical it is.
