  [BTW, new to me this Autumn and had reservations about the ugly boot and the general boringness of it but actually found it to be superb in all respects (apart from below), I'm averaging nearly 470 miles a to tank of juice and the boot is actually really useful - much more space than the hatch I had before] Anyway, here's the issue; the radio seems to get bad interference whenever I use the wipers or the rear window demister. I don't remember this happening on my old Focus hatchback and it doesn't happen on our current Focus estate. The radio is a standard rds 5000. and I only really listen to beeb 2 or 4 (depending on time of day) on FM.

  I have another query. I have a Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi (Oct 2003) fitted with Sony 6CD audio unit. The radio reception (Radio 4, ClassicFM) has been consistently poor whilst I have had the car (from 1 year old). Much complaining obtained a new unit which was slightly better but not much. Further complaining produced a new aerial to little effect.

  The owners handbook shows how to replace bulbs (5 x 5w) for the saloon model, but my estate doesn't have the same removable cover inside the car. Also, the radio reception is terrible - completely unlistenable on any channel. I unscrewed the roof mounted aerial and noted that the already lousy reception did not actually deteriorate when it was unscrewed. This leads me to believe that the connection from the aerial to the radio has failed, but I cannot work out how to remove the aerial base from the roof - does anyone have any ideas?
