  The same thing happened again 3 weeks later, light on - rang dealer, light off - dealer cancelled booking. The car is now two months out of warranty and on monday i drove the car to the dealer after the coolant warning light had been on. I noticed coolant under the car on the drive, so i topped it up and drove straight to the dealer without ringing first. I have now been told the radiator's had it and also the engine management light had been coming on because of a sensor/switch under the accelerator pedal so i need a whole new pedal.

• 98 Passat 1.8 20v engine vibration 9 Dec 2006 (Forum)
  I'm at a loss on this one as I think it unlikely that valves would be OK to start then start leaking...other thought is hd Gasket, but there is no 'mayonaise' around the oil filler cap and no coolant loss. Coolant appears oil free. I have'nt rechecked the compression yet, but will -any other suggestions whilst I have it in bits. I also intend to check the head bolt torque in case I miss tightened any(??!!).

  The popping is unchanged (they've said this is air in the cooling system but why would that be if they changed the radiator and coolant?) and they advised to monitor the coolant level and let them know if it is still dropping, which it is. They have already quoted me £400 for the head gasket (I know I can get it half that at an expensive independent) but I am in there hands somewhat as to whether that will be the cure to the problem.

  I've got the basic 1.4 8v engine and I've done around 11,000 miles so I was interested / concerned by some of the comments: What to Watch Out For: * Make sure the 1.4 8v is not losing coolant. I did notice that the coolant level went slowly down - it needed topping up every 3,000 miles or so. Is this to be expected or is it leaking? What's Bad: * head gasket failure on 1.4 8v I assume if this is a problem then I am going to know about it?

  My 2012 Ds3 suddenly flashed up temp engine fault and the fan came on constantly while driving but coolant was fine and the engine wasn’t actually over heating. As these cars have form, the temperature sensor has been changed including the casing, the water pump is ok, the resistor on the fan has been changed and still it has the fault.

  Colleague at work told me of her father's woe with a 5 year old (but only 30k mile) Grand Picasso that has suffered total engine failure (cracked block?) which started with a seemingly impossible to diagnose coolant loss. However, in Citroen's favour, although the car doesn't have a full Citroen service history they are fitting a new engine FOC. I believe it is the 1.2 130 Puretech engine which is well regarded on this site.

  This sounds increases with the speed but being an old car its at its best at 70 mph. Everything seems to be fine in terms of the coolant, oil, etc. I am useless with cars and haven't got a clue and scanning through the forums. It it s not incredibly loud and pretty subtle but the more the accelartion goes up the noiser it can get.

• Corsa D 1.3 ecoflex - Engine issue 11 Feb 2019 (Forum)
  It turns into a more rough noise and when going up the revs there’s like a squeal noise, when this is happening it’s drinks the fuel.. once I turn the engine off the cooling fans will come on for around 5 minutes then power down, took it to a mechanic and he said it was the temperature control sensor and replaced it. That helped for maybe about a week but the noise returned. Hasn’t been using any more coolant than usual.

  I have a problem with my cooling system that has me baffled I have no hot coolant in header tank the pipe on the bottom of tank is cold I have heat inside the car and the temperature gauge goes up to half way quickly I've fitted a new water pump incase it was that still the same so I changed the thermostat and it's still the same I've completely blead the system of air so I know it's not a air lock Any help would be appreciated as I'm ready to give up with it  The car is a 2003 ford focus 1.8 ghia petrol

  I let the throttle go but the engine speed went up to maximum, I pulled over and turned the ignition key to off but the engine kept running at maximum , still blowing out white smoke for about 5 mins. the coolant was blown out but there were no signs of oil in the water or vice versa. The car start with reluctance and seems to lack power as if it is only running on 3 cylinders. Any ideas?
