  • 2,500 miles with the Aygo 9 May 2007 (Forum)
model with optional aircon in flat red. Interior light goes out as soon as you close the door and it only works off the driver?s door ? it?s a pain to find the ignition keyhole during winter. No electric window switch for the passenger window from the drivers seat. Rear wiper sweeps the wrong way for RHD vehicles so it?s pretty useless, but it?
  • Are cars just TOO fast? 26 May 2005 (Forum)
Modifications to be confirmed, then destruction of said vehicle. No appeal. No resale of vehicle at auction. It?s gone. As an added tweak, I would also propose that ecu?s be capable of being remotely shut down by police cars. This would put paid to a lot of chases. Not all, but a goodly number. Next, I would make these ecu?
  • A Christmas Story - the older motorist 24 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The silver A class had just moved onto the chemist`s forecourt and as I reversed into position beside him, I noticed him pause as he opened his door and then smile slightly as we made eye contact on getting out of our vehicles. I would place him in his late 80`s - moving slowly into the chemist, white faced and without much colour in his lips, let alone face.
  • Trade £340 quote - to £3 triumph of DIY Lock 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Then a quote from a Fiat dealer - £340 to fit new locks. because Fiat don`t supply single locks and you have to buy a `lock set`. Then there`s labour - and this is cheap, up North labour. What to do? So back to the scrapyard that`s been there since youth and you still strip parts yourself. You start to strip a passenger door - wanting that side for the likely pristine tumbers..
  • Renewable Energy and Cars. feeble renewable... 25 Jun 2008 (Forum)
(Excluding the cost of the equipment) selling spare to the grid to compensate for windless periods? Renewable doesn`t work in other ways too. I was looking at torches today. Hand cranked one`s can get twenty minutes or so if you wind the handle like mad and get 3 or so dim LEDS. Or you can buy a 20 LED (3Dcells) torch that will last for 100 hours full on. (OK if there`s a nuclear winter and so on that`s different, but then there would be other issues beyond hand cranking a feeble torch) It all just seems to highlight the actual trivial power outputs of this sort of generation and solar equipment.
  • Crimewatch 27 Jan 2004 (Forum)
On Sunday 28th September 2003 Rachel and Richie Turk were travelling along the A4130 (on Gangsdown Hill near Huntercombe) between Henley-on-Thames and Wallingford with Rachel?s children. Rachel, Richie and one of the children were killed after a head-on collision with a Subaru Imprezza. A red mini, with either a white roof or wide white stripes, overtook the family?s car at a place where overtaking is prohibited.
  • Fiat Panda 1.1 Review - "slower than a cockroach" 18 May 2010 (Forum)
Anyway, she seems to be right because comparing the speed over the ground - and in particular away from a standing start, the giant oriental cockroach can move it`s own body length in a fraction of a second, where the Panda cannot. (It`s a slug away from lights compared with the old `torque by cylinder capacity under 1,000 revs` 1.9D.) It`s reported to be "great on ice and snow" and first experience of a car with ABS was very positive.
