Review: Gurston Down Hill Climb Driving School experience (productReview)
Fortunately, we came away hooked and keen to get our competition licence. Others there had different reasons for attending; an 82-year-old lady was just there to have some fun, a Ferrari owner was putting his car through its paces, a Morgan owner was practising before attempting his first Hillclimb, a couple of regular track day enthusiasts testing their skill and their cars and one keen marshal who had won the day as a prize. -

Van and pick-up road tax VED rates 2022-2023 (Article)
You can check this status on the V5C logbook. Older vans If you like to get the most out of your van or pick-up and it was built before January 1979, it is road tax exempt. This applies to most vehicles that are 40 years old, so from January 2020 vehicles built or registered before January 1980 will become exempt, and so on. If you are fortunate enough to have a tax-exempt van you have to apply for an exemption - you can do that on the Government’s website here . -
Used Buying Guide: Volkswagen Amarok 2011-2019 16 Jun 2025 (News)
It's very quiet on the move, rides well and has a comfortable interior with a quality finish that's on par with Volkswagen's car range. "The load area itself comes lined as standard and like the rest of the car it feels well finished and robust enough to withstand every day abuse. The single cab model has a load area of more than 2.0 metres (2205mm to be precise) and can carry two Euro pallets sideways with 60cm to spare." -
Review: Mio MiVue C570 (productReview)
Well, let's get into it... What's it like? In the box, we get the C570 dash cam, a 12v car charger, suction mount and a guide to help us set the dash cam up. It's pretty simple to get to grips with - like most dash cams, you just plug it in, slot in a microSD card (which isn't provided) and stick it to your windscreen. -
Review: Honda Super Cub (productReview)
That means you press down with the ball of your foot to go down a gear and use your heel to swap up a ratio. Old school, but effective nonetheless. Many will be drawn to the Super Cub for its looks and classic flair. It’s also good to ride, but it’s not as practical or versatile as many of its twist-and-go modern rivals. -
Review: Cybex Cloud Z i-size infant carrier (productReview)
What is it? The Cloud Z is the i-Size baby car seat offering from Cybex. If you’re unfamiliar with i-Size, it’s designed to be a universal fit with any car that’s i-Size compatible. This seat should protect your little one from birth to 15 months/105cms. -
Top 10: Track Experiences (Article)
Whether you are a pro-drifter or haven’t a clue how to make a car slide, this day will see you learning all the important skills and burning lots of rubber in the process. Compete against your fellow drivers and improve your car control over three sessions, and walk away with a massive grin on your face. -
Review: Britax Römer Dualfix i-size (productReview)
The sheer size of the seat means it is worth checking the dimensions against the space available in your car – it fitted well enough in a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan and a larger people carrier, but it might be tight in smaller cars. This is the case with many seats, though. If you don’t need to swap it between different cars on a regular basis then this is a fantastically user-friendly seat that is comfy for little ones. -
AIR-CONDITIONING: How do I know if my air conditioning needs servicing? (FAQs)
Basically a/c takes 5 - 10bhp from the engine. So while it will affect the fuel economy of a car with 50bhp, the driver of a car with 500bhp won't notice it. And in fact, cruising at 70mph in a car with a relatively normal 110bhp, any increase in fuel consumed is insignificant. Opening the windows will have a far more detrimental effect because of the increased resistance the engine is forced to work against. -
Review: Mio MiVue C330 dash cam (productReview)
As you’ll see in the video below, the quality of the footage is pretty good ( 1080p @ 30fps) - with details like car number plates easy to make out. It’s not thrown by challenging conditions either. Shadows don’t represent an issue, nor does rain. It’s coupled with a 130-degree wide-angle lens - which is not as wide as most dashcams - and as a result, number plates can appear on the small side unless you’re right behind another car. -
Review: Guardsman dog guard (productReview)
We left the guard in place during the six weeks we tested it, but if you do need to remove it then it's very easy. The guard has no sharp edges, so scratching yourself, your car or your dog won't be an issue. We tested the Guardsman guard with an energetic pup called PJ (who didn't want to stay still for many photos), and a 11-year old Springer Spaniel called Poppy. -
Review: Micro Wagon (productReview)
A few things to note though, if you're tall you'll find the handle a little low and it would benefit from a hoop type handle rather than a t-bar. If you can't park your car near your house, the Micro Wagon can come in really helpful, especially if you have a boot full of shopping and a tired toddler to deal with. It's here where we've used the Micro Wagon the most, saving us having to do trips back and forth to the car - and much whinging from a grumpy three-year-old. -

Obviously it’s also useful for a million other things, like removing old stickers or loosening door bolts. Armor-all Shield for Glass - £7 Like WD-40, Armor-all Shield for Glass is hydrophobic – but importantly it’s formulated for the glasshouse of cars. Once you’ve finished your car cleaning regime with shampoo, polish and wax, a coating of this product will help bead up water on the windscreen and side windows. -
Top 10: Useful car accessories for dog owners (Article)
In an accident the force of a dog flying forward from the boot is enough to do some serious damage to anyone in the front of the car. This RAC guard is said to be universal, but most car makers produce an official accessory that will fit your car perfectly and should be easy to install. Sakura boot protector – around £15 So you’ve got a dog guard and a ramp – but that isn’t going to keep your boot clean. -
Review: Thinkware F70 dash camera (productReview)
If you only have a 12v socket, rather than USB ports in your car, the Anker two-port car charger is a very handy accessory. -
DIESEL v PETROL: Which is better for me?   (FAQs)
It's used for trucking, shipping, railways, heating, farming, etc. So really, everyone who uses it in private cars is putting up the cost of diesel for more essential uses, which puts up the price of everything. Europe has more diesel then the UK because it can store more, which is why diesel is dearer in the UK than in Europe. -
Review: Scalextric ARC One American Classics (productReview)
Modern Scalextric cars are lighter than before, which means better performance. But to help keep them on the track, there's a magnetic system called Magnatraction by Scalextric. It essentially keeps the rear of the car stuck to the road so you can take corners faster. -
Review: Sennheiser Ambeo smart headset (productReview)
width=500&height=375" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/abb51908518e445781a3ecf612a69944" /> What are they like as plain old headphones though? Like math rock: very clever, but not the best listening experience you’ll have. Aside from the aforementioned comfort issues, these don’t have a great deal of bass presence. -
Review: James Bond's DB5 book (productReview)
Do we need to see the shock absorbers? But we can't deny that this is a nuts and bolts look at the car, we just prefer the behind scenes pictures. There are also chapters on DB5 toys, like the Corgi model everyone wanted and Bond's other Aston Martin cars like the DBS in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and the V8 that Timothy Dalton drove in The Living Daylights (surely one of the most underrated Bond films).
