  Hi I have a 16 year old Celica with a 5 year old Exide battery (date shown on the battery). I have only had the car for 6 weeks. Now when I tried to start the car today, the battery was dead although I did a short journey 3 days ago without problem. Questions: (a) Is the 5 years a normal lifespan for the battery, so therefore I should replace it?

  Hello, My Toyota Hiace 2005 2.5L diesel is fitted with 2 batteries wired in parallel. I need to replace the batteries. Do you know what amp hours and cold cracking amp are required for the replacement battery? Thanks, Alex

  When car is left for a few days, the battery is flat. No lights are left on & I have fited a new battery. Have you any suggestions as to what is causing this.

  I have an old Colt that my daughter used to learn in way, way back. She returned the car last year - and like an i****, I didn't keep it ticking over, so now the battery is completely dead (and probably loads of other issues I don't know yet!). I thought I'd give it a charge, so went to take the battery out - the terminals came off fine, but the battery doesn't have an 'over' battery clamp, but what appears to be a clamp at the base of the battery.

  Have a intermitent issue with a vw lupo one litre. the car has a new battery. when leaving the car the battery can go flat in a day. sometimes it can be left and it charges ok. the battery is good and it starts up. carried out some checks after a flat battery and the alternator was pushing out just over 12.5volts. this was witht he battery completly flat and jump starting the car.

  Hi. Battery (2.5yrs old) suddenly died today, I did have the radio on (not full ignition) for a couple of hours prior to trying to start, within three attempts of turning it over the battery was completely flat.

  My daughter had a 'friend' fit a new stereo to her Peuguot 206 and immediately the battery started to go flat ie the car wouldn't start. A mechanic checked the battery and alternator and said everything was fine. Problem reoccured so we purchased a new battery. That was about 2 weeks ago - for the first few days fine and lovely - no probs.

  I asked the supplier about this and they insist the battery is ok and the plastic cover is not required on a recessed battery. Is this correct? Surely the cover is on the connection for a reason? Please advise. Thanks.

  Having bought my replacement batteries from the high st retailer for years, I recently discovered Tanya an on line retailer of replacement batteries.   I never realised what a difference a good battery can make ;my wifes XKR is now a different car with a Varta battery from Tanya and the replacement for my Audi is superb.

  Volvo s60 2001 I had low battery voltage warning, measured at 10volts. Charged battery. Monitored battery voltage, started engine, voltage rose to 14V then while driving some 8 miles the voltage gradually dropped to 11.5v.

  just thinking of getting a battery for my 306 1.9td. it was new last year but ive never been impressed. at the minute its a 570 amp. my brother had a bosch silver 650 amp on his polo 1.9d and his is superb. just wondered if putting a bigger battery on (battery pan size permitting) would do it any harm?

  Skoda Roomster 2014 Petrol I am about to change a failing battery. Does the new battery need to be registered to the ECU?  If it is not done, would this affect the life of the new item?

  Just had to buy father-in-law a defibrillator after his quote from Skoda for a Fabia battery. £235 inc fitting. I know it's an AGM battery, but blimey, that's still a fair chunk of money even though they are specially made for Skoda (according to the parts manager). Mind you the last time FiL bought a battery it probably had a Unipart logo on it.

  Told me the test showed the battery was fine and not failing,it "couldnt be changed, as good batteries had been sent back before ". So no replacement under the Halfords battery guarantee :( But I wondered, can a battery tester that size really simulate the requirements of cold cranking a 1.9 indirect injection diesel with the glowplugs lit, on a cold morning?

  I have a 2001 (Y) BMW 530I Touring, owned from new. In the last 15 months I have occasional flat battery trouble. I replaced the original battery in August 2005 to a high quality Bosch battery. I had to jump start this in March 2006 and had to call the AA last week when it failed in town. The battery is being recharged properly and there is no drain occurring (I have had this checked both by a BMW dealer and an independent).
