  The car has been filled with Shell Diesel 100% no bio/svo mix to rule these out. There is plenty of fuel getting into the filter housing, so for the time being am ruling out a possible faulty fuel lift pump. On checking various forums and threads, this seems to be a common complaint with many hdi engines...with a number of possible causes.

  Clean simplicity - oh look, another person saying about emissions and power at power stations needed to produce electricity for electric cars! But the person seems to think his petrol, diesel or LPG comes out of the ground in that state and doesnt take into account the emissions and power needed at the refinery to produce the fuel for their ICE car!

  I have an 1.9 diesel with 68000 on the clock and the car is blowng oil. It is worse at start up and is less when the engine is hot, it is white smoke and smells more of diesel than engine oil. The car drives well but is not 100% smooth.

It seems like everytime I fill one of my cars up I set a new personal record, the one at the weekend set me back £65.   Is it technically feasible to convert *the same* engine from diesel to petrol or vice versa? ie. with the major components still in situ? The same engine block, pistons, con rods etc. albeit extensive mods to fuel system. Before you laugh yourselfs silly this is a serious question, Now i know it's not practical and costs would be prohibitive but is it possible?

  I missed the garage by about 500 yards!!!! AA came out and just towed me to the garage, I filled up with diesel and primed the engine while I was still filling up to ensure that all the filters and pipes were filled with diesel. Total fuel put into tank - 65.86 litres, approx 1 gallon under the 70 litre claim.

    To be brief:   Car:  Kia Pro-Cee’d 1.6 Diesel D4FB engine, (Bosch injection) 2008, 137,000 miles   Problem:  car cuts out at exactly 2500RPM   We have replaced fuel filter, fitted a second hand low mileage fuel rail complete with pressure regulator & pressure sensor,   We have replaced flow control valve in the pump and something similar that I can’t remember what it’s called.

  1/ Heavy black smoke when under load, accelerating or pulling 2/ speedo not working 3/ fuel gauge not working In the first place none of the dash clocks temp gauge warning lights were working, a change of fuse in no14 cured that problem but left it without speedo or fuel gauge. I am guessing the smoke is over fuelling, but know nothing about diesels or how to check injectors etc.
