  • Peugeot 106 1.5D 95' - Heated Window lead broken from window - Any Idea? 5 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Evening all, had good advice here is past and wandered if anyone knows how to fix this one? The lead got snagged at one point and the copper cable that had a solder join to the heated rear window matrix came away. I've never yet found a way to reconnect it. Anyway know any way to do that? I tried a solder paint some years back but it lasted maybe 2 days.

  • Audi A6 + RS6 (1997 - 2004) - HT Leads - replacement time? [as plugs, cambelt?] 3 Sep 2007 (Forum)
How long do HT leads last? I had a bit of hesitant starting 5,000 miles ago [1998 Audi A6 2.8, now 98,000] but all is OK now, so thought it might have been a tankful of dodgy fuel. I bought it at 77,000 with FSH so I am fairly certain they are original.
  • Omega DIS module: Plug lead location? 7 Oct 2003 (Forum)
RE '96 Omega 2.5 V6 petrol, manual. I think I may have got my numbers transposed when making a note of where the 6 plug leads go on the DIS module. Anyone out there confirm where they actually go? (from the viewpoint of lifting bonnet, standing and looking in to engine bay, with DIS unit at right rear of engine) If there are 2 rows of 3 sockets, the top row by the windscreen if you see what I mean, and the 2nd row nearer the engine, is the order for them as below?

Had a quick lok this morning at replacing the main beam front headlamp bulb - manual suggests removing battery cover & pulling the lead out of the bulb socket - how is the lead attached the the connector - I couldn't see the usual 'push it with a screwdriver' plastic clip ... ?

  • Vauxhall Corsa - Problem with jump-starting 16 May 2020 (Forum)
With both engines and all electrics off I connected the positive terminals, then connected the black lead to the Micra's negative terminal.  When I went to connect the black lead to a metal bracket under the Corsa's hood it sparked. This has never happened before so I thought I'd better stop.

  • '98 Fiesta Ghia 1.25L 16v - Engine struggling to run 13 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Basically, I start the engine, it starts fine but then it keeps dropping to around 250 rpm then back to normal idle then immediately back to 250 rpm. this is constant. I have replaced the HT leads this afternoon and the issue still persists. Ive pulled the leads and fired the engine one at a time starting with cylinder 1 (on the left). When the leads for 1 & 2 are pulled the engine fires up then almost imediately cuts out.

  • Toyota Landcruiser 80 Amazon (1990 to 1998) - 1993 4.2 Charging batteries 8 May 2008 (Forum)
I've got one of those jump start packs with a couple of leads and a self-contained 18AH sealed lead acid battery inside. Unfortunately I've lost the little charger for it, so thought I could charge it from a regular charger connected to the jump leads on it.
  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 94 1.7td non starter 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
hi,i have recently aquired the cv off a friend.i put jump leads to it with a new battery too, still wont start.so i towed iyt and she fired up and purred like a kitten.shes been stood for a year. the only thing ive noticed now is that i have to put a jump lead to the engine just to get it to slighlty turn over. when i do this she turns as if the battery was dying, just a couple of turns then nothing. i left a small lead attached and it melted it straight away. when i was connecting the earth to the engine i could hear a relay somewhere clicking?????
  • VW Golf MK3 no spark at HT leads 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Ladies and Gents, My 1995 Golf 1.8GL, decided to cut out the other day when I was driving through a set of roadworks and I had to get a tow to a local garage. Whilst I was waiting for the tow truck, I took off one of the HT leads and held it close to the engine to see if I had a spark whilst my wife tried the ignition. There was no spark. I took off the distributor cap and it looked okay inside. Am I right in saying that I am looking at one of the following being at fault : 1) Distributor 2) Coil 3) Crankshaft Position sensor ?
  • Misfire on 93 polo 1 litre 1 Nov 2006 (Forum)
the car now a fault of appearing to run on three cylinders, espicially when depressing the accelerator. On closer inspection found that when I removed the 2nd spark plug lead (2nd from distributor end of the engine) there was no effect on the overall running. Removing any other lead caused the car to splutter a lot more. I checked the spark from the plug of this second lead and it appears ok.

  • Honda Accord 1.8 - Honda Accord Cutting out 17 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I expect that this can be solved my replaceing the HT leads. Pretty simple. However while going round a sharp RHT the engine died, no error lights, and started up easily straight away. It has since done this 2 more times. Could these be related (havent changed HT leads yet) or am i looking at something like fuel pump/filter or a loose connection?
