  The price difference between standard unleaded and premium (e.g Shell V power) locally is about 6%, so only worth the extra if mpg is increased by more than this amount.   Obviously some cars designed for higher octane fuel will go better, my question is not about acceleration/speed but mpg in normal driving. Has anyone measured the difference (if any) in ordinary cars?

   Is it a frequent problem for drivers? I ask these questions after reading the thread about changing fuel filters, and whether water is ever found there.

  The fuel pump has gone and I've been quote £400 to have it replaced.  I plan to sell the car in the next months so ask if it could be replaced with a used one but the garage said no.  They also said something about you have to get them direct from Nissan.

  hi still got fuel problem i put £10 of diesel in andonly got 47 miles on a run just wondered if changing thermostat and coolant temp sensor and vac pipe  will make that much difference , i have serviced it about 2000 miles ago to see if that made any difference but it didnt, hope somebody can help thanks

Fuel economy over the last 8 months dropping - now does 33 MPG. Even after a full service it has made no difference and MPG is still dropping.   No dash warning lights. Honda Garage no help at all, more interested in selling us a new car.

  Hi My 407 2.0 hdi only starts properly when i have given the primer bulb a few squeezes(it does start without the primer but takes a lot of cranking) once started its fine and drives very well with no problems, could this most likely be a fault with the seal in the fuel filter?, there is no smell of diesel. al

  Hello I spun off a roundabout tonight and called the breakdown as my car wouldn't start after it hit the kurb, the recovery guy has said it's my fuel cut off switch that needs resetting - but he couldn't find it.  Does anyone know where it is please?   Thanks! Susan

  tried to change the fuel filter on my 1997 vw passat tdi 90. Removed the pipes from the top and the two small screws from another. The new filter which doesnt come with the connections and it appears as though the top of the old filter seperates and is screwed into the new filter.However there is no screw/bolt allowing for its removal?

  Hi there, Can you please tell me where I would find the fuel pump on a Citroen C5 HDi 2002 model? Is there a pump in the tank itself or is it under the back seat like in most Peugeots? If anybody has pictures / etc on how to replace one that would be a huge help Thanks.

  Looks like I've got to service my Son's Mazda 6 diesel this weekend, so i need to know if and how i bleed the system after changing the fuel filter. Is it self bleeding like my Peugeot or is there a bleed screw I need to undo? Many thanks in advance Robin the Technician

  I've just put unleaded into my diesel, the company who sorted me out told me of a new website snip who insure againnt the cost, and if you wrong fuel you become a member of the snip again who donate money to charity. I wish I had known about this first it would have saved me £180!! Thankfully engine is okay.

  Any ideas on how the fuel gauge on escort finess estate is stuck on 3/4 full. The needle hasn't moved and i know there's a problem cos i ran out of petrol the other day, and the gauge still said 3/4.

  For those using the Asda Credit card to purchase fuel from their pay at pump set ups, the 2p discount given for such use will be reduced on 28th Feb to 1p. This will last only as long as your card is valid and will cease on expire date. They say this is because we, the customer, have asked for reward points instead in the letter that passed on this news.

  HI, I need to find the flowrate of an audi a6 2.8 v6 fuel pump. I have the part numbers of the pump here. I have 3B0 906 019 and 62 34 30797 22755 Im not sure if its a zero or an o after the B on the Audi part number. Any help is apprecieted, the more info the better.

  on switching the ignition after a few seconds there is a sound from the fuel injection distributor as if a pin moves or drops ive never heard this before. also the car wont start after replacing all ignition items checked fuel pumps changed fuel filter all ok there

  Hello I'm having trouble with my 1.4 16v 2002 Clio. Basically it doesn't like starting in the morning, there is a smell of petrol on start up, fuel consumption is high and the car is jerky on acceleration and deceleration. I've cleaned the crank sensor (but not replaced it) and that hasn't worked. Any suggestions. Thanks Andy
