Review: BMW R Nine T Urban G/S (productReview)
Making use of the performance is simple courtesy of handling that lets you push harder and lean further than initial impressions might lead you to expect. The tyres deliver lots of on-road grip, even when you tick the X option with its knobblier off-road rubber, and the 43mm telescopic front forks offer masses of mid-corner stability. Granted, it’s not the quickest to turn into a curve, but the BMW holds its line with certainty and soaks up all the ruts and dimples thrown at it. -
Review: Zero FXS 2017 (productReview)
Yep, this supermoto-style machine doesn’t run on petrol. In fact, it charges up via the same kind of power lead you plug into your kettle. Seriously. And, if this is the future, then it looks very bright indeed. Despite being matt black. Let’s just hope they can lower the price a little bit in future – because at more than £10,000 it’s unlikely to pull people away from bikes like the cheaper, petrol-powered KTM 690 SMC R anytime soon. -
Review: Pod Point Solo 3S EV Charger (productReview)
Starting at £849 (including standard installation), this gets you the Pod Point Solo 3S with a 3.6kW power rating. Badged as 'Universal' this comes without a supplementary lead so you can use your own, but for an additional £50 you can get a tethered solution that comes with a 5 metre type 2 cable permanently attached. A 3.6kW home charger might suffice if you're running a plug-in hybrid car , but for EV owners you're better off with a 7kW charger, which is where Pod Point's more powerful Solo 3S 7kW home charger comes in. -
Review: Wahoo Elemnt Roam V2 cycling computer (productReview)
Out of the box and the Wahoo Roam V2 couldn't be easier to set-up. It charges via USB-C (lead supplied) and battery life is expected to be up to 17 hours. The mount installs easily on the handlebars (there's also a stem mount in the box if you'd prefer) and the Roam V2 clicks securely into place. -
Top 10: Headphones under £100 (Article)
The headphones offer a natural, full-bodied sound but bear in mind that the open-backed earcups will lead to some sound leakage. If you want high-quality, lively sound and aren't looking for total noise isolation then these are a fantastic option. Beats EP The on-ear Beats EP are the base model in the range, meaning they don't come with wireless connectivity or Noise Cancelling but they do offer adjustable sliders for the perfect fit and the RemoteTalk cable allows the wearer to take calls and control music with ease. -
Top 10: Best lawnmowers 2023 (Article)
You also get a three-year warranty if you register online. Remember to buy an extension lead, though, as it only comes with a 10-meter cord. Hyundai HYM510SPE 173cc 51cm self-propelled mower Looking for excellent value for money? This Hyundai offering could be just the ticket, as it crams lots of features into a sensibly priced mower. -
Review: Azdome GS63H (productReview)
We much prefer this design to the moulded units you often get. The SD card reassuringly slots in the side, the power lead is nice and secure while the mount is a neat bit of design too. It's far smaller than most and instead of a big clip, you simply twist the back to make the suction cup stick to your windscreen. The dash cam itself just slots in from the side, so it's a doddle to take off without having to remove the mount. -
Top 10: Father's Day gifts for Classics fans (Article)
Murray Walker Official T-Shirt - £24.95 The legendary former F1 commentator Murray Walker uttered some classic ‘Walkerisms’ throughout his career, three of which are captured brilliantly in this trio of T-shirts. Our favourite is this: “The lead car is absolutely unique, except for the one behind it which is identical!” But with two others to choose from, you’re sure to find one your dad will love. Sizes range from Small to XXLarge. Order yours from: www.retrogp.com . -
Review: Lexmoto Viper 125 2017 (productReview)
There are a few question marks – the footpegs aren’t spring loaded so will sometimes get wedged up when pulling away, leading to awkward leg-flailing, while the controls for the audio system don’t have the same fit or finish as the switches and levers on the bars. The analogue speedo seems a bit optimistic too. But really, it’s par for the course. -
AIR-CONDITIONING: How do I know if my air conditioning needs servicing? (FAQs)
The two main causes of failure are lack of gas (via leaks at the system seals) and component breakdown. Low refrigerant means low lubricant, which is contained in the refrigerant, and this can lead to seals drying out, thus losing even more refrigerant and leading to failure of the compressor. Properly repairing a failed system is a four-figure job. Older systems used CFC emitting R12 gas. -
Review: Azdome M06 (productReview)
Not to mention the companion app is called LuckyApp, rather than just Azdome (which we assumed it would be called, leading us to download the wrong app at first). Once you turn WiFi on in the dash cam's menu, it's a simple case of connecting to the WiFi network on your phone's settings, then inputting the password - which will appear on the dash cam screen. -
Review: EZVIZ S2 action camera (productReview)
Action cams have been around for a few years now, with bigger players in the game — like Go Pro — leading the charge. And, while big brands like GoPro have almost become synonymous with their respective products, there are a number of cheaper options on the market that arguably offer more bang for your buck. -
Top 10: Gifts for music lovers (Article)
Lenco L400 turntable The direct-drive L-400 is great value for money and comes with everything you need — including a phono cartridge, all the relevant leads and a nice smoked dust cover lid too. It has a built in pre-amp so you don't necessarily need a separate amplifier to use it. Alternatively, you can hook it up directly to a stereo system. It can play both 33rpm and 45rpm records as you'd expect, plus it has pitch control, which allows you to adjust the speed by up to 10 per cent. -
Review: Hovding 2.0 bicycle airbag helmet (productReview)
And that's an embarrassing way to blow £219... The Hovding is charged via a micro USB lead, which is included, and takes two or three hours to fully charge. The five LED lights on the front will light up when you're good to go. These same lights will flash when the Hovding needs another charge (after about 10 hours of cycling). -
Top 10: Welders for under £300 (Article)
It's 150 amps so you'll be able to run it off a domestic socket and it's variable so it'll go down to 40 amps if you find yourself dealing with thinner metal. It comes complete with standard welding leads, electrode holder, earth clamp, face shield, and chipping pick/wire brush. If you're new to ARC welding, we'd recommend getting some scrap metal to practice on before first. SIP Weldmate T166 Gas / Gasless MIG Normally available direct from SIP for £467, this high-spec MIG welder offers superb value for money at its current discounted price – and for those seeking something even more versatile than the other SIP welder featured here, we think the T166 deserves serious consideration. -
Review: Sennheiser PXC 550 headphones (productReview)
The micro USB charging port also sits on the bottom of the right ear cup, with a micro USB charging lead supplied in the box. A full charge takes approx three hours. Sennheiser claims a battery life of 20 hours with ANC and Bluetooth enabled, but you can get 30 hours with the wired 3.5mm analogue connection. -
Review: Dyson Pure hot+cool purifying fan heater (productReview)
A small, circular, LCD display on the body of the Pure hot+cool also give us very helpful insights into factors that affect our air quality in the office, including information about humidity, particulate matter (PM), Nitrogen Oxide (NO2) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) - which can lead to a whole host of health problems. You can use t he remote control to cycle through the different displays. VOCs are toxic chemicals that are found in cleaning sprays, nail polish remover, spray-on deodorant, air freshener, paint etc - while particulate matter like dust can trigger asthma and other respiratory illnesses. -
Review: Garmin VIRB 360 (productReview)
At £650, the Garmin VIRB 360 is an expensive gimmick — which is one of the main reasons we didn't rate it any higher considering it's very feature-packed. But if you’re the kind of person who leads a very active lifestyle and wishes to share it with your friends, it’s a very cool way of doing that. Especially if you know how to edit footage. We like how easy the VIRB is to use, and the 360-degree footage is very, very good (as long as you have a screen that suits watching 4k footage). -
Review: Blitzwolf BW-ANC1 headphones (productReview)
The rubber ear tips are angled so that they fit in your ears well without as much discomfort that we often feel with budget in-ear headphones. The braided cable leads to a square control unit, which can clip onto a shirt sleeve or between buttons. The design will work for anyone who gets fed up of tucking headphone wires inside clothing to keep it from hanging loosely in front of you. -
Review: Review: Sennheiser GSP 600 gaming headset (productReview)
Alongside all that, there's a noise-cancelling broadcast quality microphone that minimizes background noise. Included are two leads, a standard 3.5mm aux, suitable for most gamers, plus a PC cable. Both are braided rather than plastic, to prevent them from splitting. And if you don't want closed earcups, you can opt for the slightly cheaper GSP 500 headset which is open backed.
