  • Police still hunting for a Daewoo Nexia 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyone who owned such a car in the last six years is also being urged to check for these details on their old MOT certificates and other car documents. It is also possible that the car may have been scrapped, destroyed or placed in storage, and police have appealed to anyone working in scrap dealerships or other vehicle-related businesses to check their records since 2002 for any mention of the car. The vehicle has not been seen since it was reported stolen from a pub car park in Hounslow, west London, several days after 21 March 2002.
  • Insurance Write-off advice 23 Oct 2006 (Forum)
They say their engineer has not valued the vehicle yet (even though they say it is not worth repairing!) but they want to take it to free and safe storage. The car has dents to the passenger door, a broken wing mirror, gouged bumper mouldings and a broken rear light cluster but it is driveable. I guess the parts and labour charges would soon add up to the £1000 or so it is worth (according to Parkers price guide - presumably undamaged).
  • Navman iCN 510 or a Tom Tom? 29 May 2005 (Forum)
He likes the idea of post codes, roads at street level and voice prompts and the fact that the 510 has a storage slot of 512MB to take maps. He says at £349.45 Inc. VAT it looks to be the better buy. Except for the £200 he looks like having to pay for a map kit in order to get one for France. I think he should also look towards using scamera data (yes I know there is talk of banning.
  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Dad-to-be swapping small van for a LAV - which one 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
From what I see of the vehicles: 1st gen Berlingo - can pick up a good example for cheap, easily to find one with a sunroof (I don't know why I have a big fetish for sunroofs especially that I've never owned a car with one since my first car back in 1997!) and has excellent storage options - I quite like the rear drop-down roof storage. Downside is the poor crash safety rating, poverty spec, and, well, the design is old from 1998. 2nd gen Berlingo -

  • VW camper - Does this seem legit or does it ring alarm bells? 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
(at that address obviously) When she asked the first question the reply was that she would see the vehicle at a local caravan storage facility where he stores his actual caravan as well as the camper. Okay, fair enough..... The answer to the 'is it your name on the V5?' question was however a new one on me: It's apparently registered in the sellers cousin's name and is insured via the cousin's trade insurance with the seller as a named driver on that insurance.
  • Toyota celica 2.0GT Convertible (import) - Autobox pulling away in 2nd gear 14 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I haveva 1995 GT Convertible which only gets used in the summer months. Just got  it out of storage and it's trying to pull away in 2nd gear if in D or 2. If I select L on the selector I get 1st gear then it will pull away in 1st and change up to 2nd ?when I go to 2 or D. Crawls away with not much acceleration unless I manually go down to L then changes down and then it accelerates fine.
  • VW Polo 9N3 - Towing with a Polo 20 Jun 2017 (Forum)
We also own a caravan which we haven't been able to use since my tow-car died a couple of years ago - it's just stood in storage, costing us money.  The caravan is quite light in weight - about 675Kg. It's a Silhouette Swift Diamond which has an aluminium chassis and was easily towed by my Peugeot 306 2.0 Hdi. I don't believe the Peugeot was much heavier than the Polo, which itself weighs nearly 1100Kg, but the Polo's engine only develops 70 BHP versus the 90 BHP of the Peugeot.
  • Ford Transit 2.5 Diesel - Has my transit lost its memory 19 Jul 2013 (Forum)
My 1996 2.5 diesel transit won’t start after removing the battery 6 months ago and putting the van in storage, I have checked all the obvious things battery fuses etc, but the problem persists, I suspect it is something to do with the ford pats immobilizer as I get nothing other than a click from the ignition relay when I turn the key, and the warning light comes on the dashboard, there are no other noises, and I can’t hear the fuel pump whirring like it usually does, is it possible for the immobilizer to lose the code from its memory due to the battery being removed for a long time I have tried starting it with the red master key but it’s still the same.
