  • Peugeot 406 HDI 90hp - Diesel fuel pressure problem 14 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I tried again, this time i started the car same happenedso i stopped the car . Disconnected the fuel line to the hp pump and put the  fuel line into a container , turned the ignition on fuel bulb ok . There is a fuel line that comes off the top of the hp pump , disconnected this and put the end into a container,  turned the ignition on ,priming bulb again expanded to twice its normal size so switched off the ignition . i could see what i thought was a pressure regulator on the hp pump so i went to the local breakers and aquired a pressure regulator , a priming bulb and some relays .
  • Peugeot 307 SW 2.0 hdi 90 hp 2005 - High fuel consumption faulty EGR 27 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Indicating a problem with the exhaust gas. The orange indicator was lit on the dashboard. I noticed that the fuel consumption had increased. I could do approx. 150-180 kilometers less with 1 tank of gasoline. Also the actual fuel consumption on the dashboard was presenting different values. It also takes a while before the boardcomputer calculates an actual fuel consumption especially driving slower than 40 km/h.

LONDON (Reuters) -- The European Commission is reviewing the taxation structure of transport fuels in a move that could boost demand for gasoline at the expense of diesel, an EU official said on Wednesday.

  • Astra 1.4 H reg - fuel pipe cut 3 May 2004 (Forum)
Hello My Astra 1.4 (H reg)has had its fuel piping cut with a stanley knife and all the fuel from my petrol tank has disappeared. The piping runs under the car on the driver side next to the brake cable. It is obviously a robbery of petrol from my car and I was completely flabbergasterred when I spotted petrol pouring out from underneath the car.
  • Optimax test results 8 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Drive 3281 miles that match usual driving mix as far as possible. Fill car to brim with Optimax (at the same pump in the same garage) Work out fuel consumption Results: Used 107.3 Gallons, equalling a fuel consumption of 30.6mpg Usual consumption of car is 31mpg, so this is probably within errors an unchanged fuel consumption. Conclusions: For my car, for my mix of driving (mainly motorway) Optimax offers no fuel consumption benefits.
  • Fuel additives anyone? 18 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Do some fuel brands need additives and others not? What is the case for diesel engines? What actually do fuel additives do and do they all do the same thing? Grateful for any comments.
  • Cash Back Motoring (5PencePerMile) 20 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Reduce fuel duty by 40 pence per litre What I want is a 40 pence/litre ?average? reduction in fuel duty as a way of getting us to drive more economically. That's right; reduce the cost of fuel to encourage us to use less of it.
  • vauxhall signum 2.2 2005 - fires up but wont start unless unplug fuel sensors 10 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Called recovery they couldnt start it, he spent about an hour looking, not filling me with hope, by telling me he had only ever been to one other car the same as mine. He had no idea what was wrong, did diagnostic, came back 2 fuel sensor errors, and maf error code.  Called a mobile mechanic  out he had no idea either, said could be fuel sensors or maf.(maf has now been replaced) My husband uplugged both fuels sensors, then car starts and after few revs ticks over fine, but still doesnt run properly.
  • Citroen Xsara Picasso - Diesel fuel pump leak in engine - Advice needed 20 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I took it to a local garage and they said they last tried replacing a o-ring on the same kind of engine (Peugeot) and it just made the problem worse, the reckon a new fuel pump will be the best option. The only factors that put me out here (aside from cost) is the possibility this has been caused by the fuel filter being replaced recently at its major service.
  • Five ways to make your fuel go further? 27 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Under-inflated tyres can increase fuel consumption by three per cent. Again.... 5. Don't use air conditioning, which increases fuel consumption by an average of eight per cent. But at what speed, under which conditions, in what car?
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - fuel system sensors 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
They said they could not check anything as the fault had been cleared & the car was now running perfectly. The Ford service people suggested the fuel level had been low & that sensors had detected air in the system which cut out the fuel pump to protect it - either that or dirty diesel (The tank was actually one third full on refuelling.) Although the car now runs OK, I read an answer in your column (15th Sept) about a BWW diesel with intermittent fuel pump problems (stalling) which you suggested could have been due to bad earths on the fuel tank lifter pump or its relay.
  • Peugeot 205 GTi 1.9 over fueling 17 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I've had it into a garage and they cant work it out, the fuel mixture is all over the place. They suggested replacing the fuel pump and/or airflow meter. So far I have cleaned the K&N and replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump and airflow meter, all to no avail.

  • Vectra 2.0 Di sluggish from cold, please help 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
This seemed to go away after a few miles until one morning when it resulted in the car stalling when doing 70 on the motorway and failing to restart. The AA were called and they suggested I'd run out of fuel. I knew the level to be quite a sizeable amount above the red so insisted it must be something else. They investigated a little further and said fuel was in the tank but not getting through too well so it must be the fuel filter.

  • Maserati Ghibli Diesel - MPG Test Result 26 Jan 2016 (Forum)
To get the official MPG results do they use the information displayed by the car or do they use an independent means of calculating fuel usage.  The reason for my question is that the Ghibli forum believes that fuel consumption shown is 12.5% more than it should be. If the car shows better fuel consumption is this legal?
