  • P reg Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V 17 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have an intermitent fault, when driving and applying the foot brake, the warning lights on the instrument panel for ABS and TC light up and will not go out till the engine is switched off. Sometimes the fault happens two or three times a day, sometimes i can drive for three weeks with no fault.
  • Peugeot Insurance 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
The code should be 0845, NOT 0870. Secondly, although it is 'comprehensive', it does NOT cover you to drive other vehicles on a third party only basis. Furthermore, on the basis of 'caveat emptor', although I was prepared to pay the extra for this (just so that we could shuffle our sons' cars around to get out of the drive), but the insurance company won't allow you to do so.
  • Van tyres are tough! 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I read previous comments about how delicate car tyres are and how driving over curbs can ruin them. Realised for years I have been driving my van tyres over high curbs and accross rubbish covered building areas with no problems despite having economy brand tyres. Think the reinforced structure intended for load carrying, the tread that is deeper than car tyres and sidewalls with thicker rubber worth paying £40/tyre.
  • New Cars - Not enjoyable to drive? 22 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I don’t want to mislead anyone, it’s not a bad car, but it feels just like every other modern car. I remember cars from the late 1990s being fun to drive. That thrill seems to be missing these days. Getting into a car feels for a journey, feels more like a chore than something enjoyable. I’m not sure if this is because of the SUV style, large tyres and if car manufacturers are just making heavier, bulkier vehicles in general.
  • Kia Sportage - MHEV Sportage being discontinued? 7 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I went for some test drives with my daughter over the weekend. She wants an SUV to replace an ancient Citroen Berlingo. At the Kia dealership we test drive an MHEV "3" which mostly drove OK, though from my point of view the steering was quite vague and could be wiggled quite a bit in the ahead position before the car stated turning.
  • Honda CR-V - Looking at buying a new car - 1st time in 10 years 23 Aug 2023 (Forum)
We will buy a car in the next couple of months somewhere but it won't taking the test drive and certainly not be that outlet!
  • Audi A4/BMW 3 - Seeking for a new long-term car 7 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Hello, It'll 10 years this January since I've been driving my Ford Fiesta 1.25 MK7. I'm saving up money now, hoping to find a suitable replacement that would last me for another period of 10 years. My max budget is maximum £10k (taking into account Fiesta P/X), and I would look to drive around 7k miles/annum.
  • Used Car With High Driving Position <9K 2 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I currently have a 2017 Nissan Note with good spec that I'm looking to get rid of. The main reason is that I want something with a higher driving position. I used to have a Skoda SUV (family car pre divorce :( ) and quite frankly I was spoilt rotten! I only have the part ex value of my Note which is about £9000 maximum so I know I'm limited to car options in this budget.
  • Do I need to renew my driving licence when I turn 70? 22 Feb 2022 (Ask HJ)

  • Insurance changes April 30th 26 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Originally introduced in March 2020, the commitments supported policyholders who needed to drive to work during lockdown, but who previously would not have used their own car to do so. Insurers waived any requirements to extend cover for key workers who needed to drive to different locations, volunteers helping their communities by transporting medicines or groceries to support those affected by coronavirus and, people who needed to use their car to drive to different locations for work because of the pandemic.
  • VW T Cross - Exporting a family car from NL to the UK 9 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Then I get temporary plates and can drive it on Dutch roads for 14 days.  Or I can do this, deregister online from the UK later - but they wont give me this certificate.  God knows what the implications of that are. What worries me is whether I can drive it through France and the UK.
  • If you're going to test-drive an EV or PHEV.... 16 Feb 2020 (Forum)
They had a BMW 225xe available (most dealers don't), and as I like to start a short-list a year or so in advance I arranged a test-drive - only to find that it wouldn't run on electric power.  Battery low, according to the screen. I've generally been lucky with car salespeople in the past: this one was keen and friendly but was new to the job and had no product knowledge of hybrids.

  • Honda Civic - My First Car Inspection and Test Drive 30 Jan 2019 (Forum)
So after lurking on these forums for a few months now I finally felt confident enough to inspect and test drive my first potential car today a 2013 Honda Civic. For the most part it went well but I did notice a few issues. 1. Kerb damage to two of the alloys  2. Peeling / corrosion of the side skirts: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4auya10n68w3rtj/Side%20Skirt.jpg?

Golf gdt is too much, Mini cooper SD has everything apart from the boot space and iv heard they arent that comfy. 320D is perfect but rear wheel drive (the x drives mpg is too low) and the rest seem to have way too low real mpg compared to their official figures.   Ideas please guys!
  • Mazda 2.2 skyactiv 6 Tourer - Whether to replace Mazda 6, with what? 30 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Conscious there may be bigger problems to come. The car suits our needs; comfortable, responsive driving, spacious, and economical purchase price and on road. We will continue to drive 20k/yr mainly driving 12 miles into town and also long journeys with 'A' roads and motorway. We have a rural location but do not require 4x4, if push comes to shove we can use farm truck.
  • Rough sounding cars 29 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I would never buy one of these vechiles simply because the noise is so awful. I would need to always drive gently around town and would never enjoy using the power. I'd need to drive it gently for it to be bareable. I was behind a recent Mustang GT today. It not only sounded awful but was also accelerating far slower than everything else.
  • Driving Entitlement and DVLA 10 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Obviously it’s not been threee weeks and I’ve heard nothing yet and the online license check thing still doesn’t say I can drive C1. Question is do the DSA hold records or inform the DVLA that I have passed? I’m paranoid that my certificate will get lost in the dungeons of Swansea offices and I’ll have no way to proove I passed apart from the DC25/Form they mark the driver faults on.
  • Porsche Boxster Sport 2008 - Bafflement 15 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Turned the ignition off and the spoiler went up with the brake lghts still on and the roof motor trying to operate. Decided to go for a short drive and reversed off the drive. The dash then read "check reversing lights" Went for a short drive. Got back and went through the same ignition off/spoiler up and brake lights on. Disconnected the battery and reconnected it  the same problems.
