  • Minor road works - major conjestion 9 Feb 2002 (Forum)
roadworks are a false economy and wreck lives. Sorry to HJ-ers from the SW and Home Counties who do not know of the M6 ? the UK?s first motorway, or the M55, the first purpose built ?holiday motorway?. Alex.
  • Tesco insurance SCAM?? 5 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I am not sure, since they only told me on the phone ? I have to get something in black & white. The guy just told me this is their company?s procedure & I think this is ridiculous. I am going to complain ? but what else can I do???? Be warmed: all of you with Tesco policy and under similar circumstance, pls. ring them to ensure that everything is fine (for the sake of peace in mind).

  • Positioning - Nigel Albright 23 Jun 2003 (Forum)
In fact the subject could be a perennial one because of the interwoven affair between these two. It?s a sort of love/hate relationship. Each one may have a good reason for taking priority at any moment of time; but the only certain thing is that safety will always win if there is a clash of interests.
  • Vauxhall/Audi/Seat - Changing my 2 cars 27 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Impressionsd thus far. For the money I am very pleased. Fuel consumption is consistently in the mid 50's. Spacve wise the car is a revelation. People are consistently impressed by the legroom and boot space. It has become our main family car and is proving very capable in that respect. It has a good level of equipment and for the price I am hard pressed to think of anything that comes close expect possibly a Dacia, And I am very sceptical about them at the moment.
  • Mazda Mazda 3 (2004 - 2009) - Piston-Slap Issue, Katano 1,600cc Petrol. 20 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Above all, piston-slap should NOT occur at all, let alone in a new engine. That the same noise now emanates from this, Mazda?s second engine, equates to a 100% failure rate in my book. I am in the process of employing an Expert Witness, with a view to litigation. Consequently, any and all supportive case-histories or comments would be welcomed.
  • Banger(ish) shopping in Ayrshire 9 Aug 2025 (Forum)
There’s little wrong with the car he has, it’s a few minor things that it would need for a fresh Mot in a few weeks, but despite my advice to stick with what he has and that another 12/13yr old car at £3-£4k will almost certainly land him with repairs bills too, he can’t be talked out of it. Picked out a few for the shortlist. Two Toyota Yaris 1.33’s, a Vauxhall Viva, and a couple of Vauxhall Astra J’s with the belt driven 1.6 petrol motor. The first Yaris was about five different colours, and had more runs than an IBS sufferer after a curry. It was a mess.
  • Vauxhall Movano - Vauxhall Movano major electrical fault! 30 Jan 2024 (Forum)
Unfortunately i'm self employed and my van is my source of income, being without it has cost me several £1,000's in lost income and i couldn't be with it any longer so i agreed to pay. When i arrived to collect it the cracked back light was still not repaired. When i asked why they hadn't replaced it, if it had caused all the problems they told me it was not the back light but it was because i'd knocked the interior light in the back of the van and caused a short curcuit?
  • Car boot leak and restoring headlamp lenses 11 Jul 2022 (Forum)
Not sure whether this would qualify to go in the 'technical section' or not but anyway...two issues: 1. My long-standing water leak into my Mazda3's (gen-1 saloon) boot is getting quite bad now.  During heavy or sustained rainfall, some of it gets into the boot, and seemingly not via a (partially) failed boot opening seal. There is definitely water coming in from around the LHS boot opening hinge/mechanism area (I've seen it drip from the inside), but there also is water on the LHS nearer to the seats, which I can only summise is coming in via the back window seal.
  • Estate car recommendations 17 Mar 2022 (Forum)
If you've got kids, especially little ones, you'll know who much stuff comes with them for a weekend away! We thought about getting something like a Galaxy or S-Max, and while I'm still keen, they are pretty expensive, and it's hard to find one with the level of trim I'd like. The MPV appeals too as it has the extra seats in the boot so we could fit Granny in there too if we needed to go somewhere without taking 2 cars.
  • Jaguar XF - Rear diff noise/leaking pinion seal replaced 2018 13 Mar 2022 (Forum)
My 2015 X250 XF 3.0D S had an advisory for a rear differential fluid leak on its first MoT in 2018 at 15,000 miles. A new seal was fitted by the Jaguar dealer in 2018 and I assumed the problem was fully resolved. However, I took the car in for a Jaguar dealer service today at 40,000 miles and was told there is a noise coming from the differential and that rear diff pinion seal is moist.
  • New year, new car 9 Dec 2021 (Forum)
If not it would have to be a VAG Tsi, the 1.4/1.5 seen to have great reviews (except for the early 1.5’s issues). So my initial shortlist is based on the best prices I have found on-line and at this point they are all hybrids. They are in price order but that dies not mean cheapest is my preference.
  • All EV’s - Batteries & Charging 4 Dec 2021 (Forum)
It’s not an outright definition of range since vehicle size, weight, etc will impact on how far it’ll go. If you could put a 15 gallon tank in a Peugeot 108, it’ll go further than a Mercedes S-Class with a similarly sized tank. KW next, and that’s the rate at which it will change when plugged in. This will vary enormously, depending upon what the car is plugged into, and a bit of maths is useful here.

  • Peugeot Partner - HELP !...I've bought a vehicle that was on finance 8 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I rang strata but the telephone number had been disconnected. I ran a check on google and found out that the firm which was part of S P HOLDINGS LTD had gone into administration. I rang their number and a guy answered from an administration company explaining what had happened. Since then I have rang peugeot financial services who have confirmed that there is still finance outstanding and that they have a legal interest in the vehicle.
