  • VW Golf GT TDI pd (115) - Juddering 3 Apr 2002 (Forum)
The outcome was that the garage (a main dealer), found petrol in the tank (allegedly) to be the cause. They said that the pressure of fuel going through to the injectors was too low and although I find it difficult to believe, the petrol caused the seal on the tandem fuel/air pump to deteriorate, resulting in air getting into the system.
  • LPG Conversion of Volvo 850 7 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I had my Volvo 850 conveted over a year ago at by an agent for Autogas 2000 Thirsk but the fuel consumption has never been as good as promised.before conversion i was getting a steady 30 mpg but afterwards it dropped to about 16mpg although I had been told to expect about 26mpg. After a year the car failed the test on emissions on both fuels and it was retutned to Thirsk where it was found that another control box was needed.
  • Volvo petrol vent system 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The vent line consists of a gravity valve (I would think that this prevent's the tank emptying if the car rolls over) and a diagphram valve, I am thinking that if the diagphram valve is passing then the turbo pressure within the inlet manifold will pressurise the fuel tank?????. If this is happening how would this affect the running of the engine?, the tickover is very lumpy but only when the tank is less than half full of fuel. Anyway before I start ripping things to bits just finding out if anyone has experiance of this system and common probs?
  • Oil Additives - Any good? 12 Jun 2001 (Forum)
I've always thought that if whatever is in them is any good, the oil producers would be putting the stuff in anyway. By the way, adding Wynn's Deisel Clean to the fuel hasn't made any difference to my car's fuel economy or performance (present 53,000 miles). Any thoughts? Tom
  • Excessive Consumption 23 May 2001 (Forum)
However, the fact that it STILL smokes somewhat suggests, to ME, that too much fuel is going in there!)
  • Vauxhall Corsa - Lack of Power/Gutless 12 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I will list everything I have done to date so perhaps you can suggest some ideas! 1. Engine flushed and new oil air and fuel filters, removed the pick-up unit in the fuel tank and cleaned the plastic gauze (although not dirty and the bottom of the fuel tank was clean) siphoned fuel out at the filter head to confirm clear fuel feed to filter.
  • Skoda Yeti - EA189 Emissions Update - my experience 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I'd previously only been aware of occasional active regenerations, but following the update, these were occuring every few days. I cover ~20K miles yearly and tend to favour "branded" fuels (Esso / Shell), with the occasional tank of V-Power Nitro+, in an attempt to keep everything clean / ticking over. I'd assumed the worsening fuel economy was a direct consequence of the increased fuel injected to facilitate frequent active regeneration?

  • Perodua - Are Perodua still selling in the UK 14 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Are they still importing to the UK? I thought the Myii would have been a bigger sales success with the current climate for fuel efficent petrol cars.
  • 200mph radio control cars 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Pointless I know, but on todays www.liveleak.com is an uploaded video of nitro fuel R/C cars going round a circular track at 200mph. Amusing for about 30 secs, then you feel giddy and travel sick!
  • Design Innovations 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Following from the design faults thread, there must be a similar list of design innovations that have eliminated many causes of misery. As a starter for ten I would suggest plastic fuel tanks and those spring loaded radiator hose clips.

  • petrol/diesel prices 8 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Despite Mr Brown adding 1 1/2p to the price of fuel, isn't it odd how both my local Sainsburies and local Esso have just hiked their diesel by 4p?! Very strange! Anyone else noticed that?
  • a simple question that needs an answer.. 17 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Reason?: all the garages i've seen without exception over last few days that have run out of diesel fuel, the notice says 'no derv'.
