  • Review: Kymco X-Town (productReview)
You also have anti-lock brakes as standard, which is a welcome bonus at this price point. As for the handling, the X-Town enjoys the same easy flow through busy streets as the Downtown offered. The long wheelbase means you might not squeeze past the very tightest gaps, but the pay-off is top notch stability on faster roads.
  • GARAGE SERVICING: How can I find a reputable garage  to service or repair my car? (FAQs)
They usually fall for it, but watch out for the bloke who has a handy mate with a ramp who can spot that all that's needed is to tighten a few nuts. The Brake Blag During a routine service, 'discover' that the front brake discs are wearing thin and are in need of replacement. Punters are getting used to having to replace discs every 30,000 miles, so even if the discs are still in good condition you will probably get away with selling the parts and a nice fat labour charge.
  • Top 10: Cafe racers in 2023 (Article)
You’ll also notice the Racer is quite heavy at low speeds, but this is common to all BMW Boxer bikes in our experience. On the move, though, the handling, steering and brakes are all precise and measured on their reactions.
  • Review: Honda CB125R (2018) (productReview)
The bike comes with ABS as standard, but Honda has added an  Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) too. This set-up means the ECU uses the information from the IMU to optimise the front and rear braking. Essentially, that means if a rider is a bit heavy-handed on the front brake, the ABS stops the rear wheel lifting off the ground. And that's not the only impressive feature you get on this 125...
  • How to buy a classic car (Article)
Some even want to go the whole nine yards and experience driving on a race circuit without over-bearing traction control and the anti-lock brakes of modern cars.  Just man, and machine. But how do you know which old clunker is right for you? Classic cars are an emotional purchase – you don’t buy them like you buy a modern car.
  • Review: Piaggio MP3 300 and 500 (productReview)
Slowing the MP3 in either guise is no problem as the twin front disc brakes and single rear rotor offer 50% more stopping power than most scooters. You need that extra retardation due to the weight of these three-wheelers, but they still pull up in a shorter distance courtesy of their greater contact patch on the road surface.
  • Used Van Buying Guide: Nissan NV200 2009-2019 16 Jun 2025 (News)
Read the Nissan NV200 review What to watch Check the brake lights are working as the brake light switch is a fairly common breakage. It should be obvious, as it’ll leave the ABS light glowing in the instruments. Many complaint about the quality of the Bluetooth connection on the standard head unit.
  • Top 10: Winter tyres (Article)
The tread pattern of the AllSeasonContact has fewer sipes than most rivals, but it offers a great amount of traction - even in snow - and strong front end grip.  The Continental do well in wet and dry conditions too with reliable, reactive braking and the tyres are also very quiet and refined even at high speeds. A reduction in rolling resistance ( the energy lost when a tyre is moving) also means the AllSeasonContact are very fuel efficient.
  • Review: Honda CMX 500 Rebel 2017 (productReview)
The price of £5399 means a some noticeably budget components have been used, so the suspension isn’t great and nor are the brakes - but they aren’t at all bad. In fact, they’re perfectly up to the task unless pressing on with real pace – and if you’re going to do that then you’re better off with the CBR500R. TOWING LAWS: What is the new tachograph law about towing?  (FAQs)
"Any manufacturer unable to accept the encrypted sender unit faces considerable re-engineering work so we are expecting extra business as a result." The best-selling Rodeo Denver 3.0 litre diesel turbo offers a braked, 3,000 kg towing limit and a 1,000 kg-plus payload. • MoT Test Results and MoT Advice (Article)
With brakes, it should be easy to spot when things are going awry: spongy pedal feel, squeaky noises, a scraping sensation, or the car pulling to one side. You can check the brake fluid reservoir yourself (see handbook for details) or take your car to a trusted garage for a pre-MoT assessment.
  • Used Van Buying Guide: Renault Trafic 2001-2014 16 Jun 2025 (News)
From 2006 the Trafic’s engines were all Euro 4 compliant and came as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The specification of the facelifted Trafics would also be increased to include ABS anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), security improved with a remote central locking with deadlocking and a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser.   Phase three Trafics would use the 2.0 dCi and 2.5 dCi engines, with the 2.0-litre coming with either 90PS or 115PS and 240Nm or 290Nm of torque, the 2.5 dCi being the 150PS output version.
  • Top 10: Used Motorcycles for £3000 (Article)
The 125cc single-cylinder engine comes with 15bhp and will whip you up to 85mph, so it can deal with motorways like few others of this capacity. It can also deliver 134mpg to be easy on the pocket. Good handling, strong braking and fine comfort make it a bike you’ll want to use and the MT-125 comes with a surprising amount of standard kit. You get an LED headlight, digital dash, inverted front forks and even a radially-mounted front brake caliper.
  • Top 10: 125cc motorcycles 2020 (Article)
It also allows more experienced users to flick into bends and make the most of the composed suspension and strong brakes.  The 125cc four-stroke engine is a willing helper in all of this, while comfort is excellent too. Then there’s the neat digital dash, stylish looks and curvy rear swing arm: it all adds up to one of the most desirable 125s out there.
  • Review: Kymco AK550 (productReview)
It’s an unusual layout and adds to the AK’s visual and technical appeal. Alongside this lot, there are top spec radial Brembo brake calipers and an ABS anti-lock system, showing that Kymco really is determined to square up to the best in class on every front.
Review: Micro Sparrow electric scooter (productReview)
You can switch the power on and off (there's a button on the base) so even without the power on, you can still use this as a normal scooter. The top speed is 9mph and like all Micro scooters, the brake is over the back wheel but in this case, pressing it also slows down the electrical assistance. It has a kickstand at the front, rubber grips on the handlebars and a sturdy metal deck with a grippy covering.
  • Review: Hayter Harrier 48 roller mower (productReview)
Prices start at around £900 for the entry-level model and you’ll pay upwards of £1000 if you pick a model with a blade brake clutch or electric start. So, not cheap. But, it is a high-quality product and the build quality and features - such as that brake clutc h - really shine through.
  • Review: Piaggio MP3 500 Sport (productReview)
When you consider that the MP3’s 493cc engine puts out 40PS, gets it to 60 in about 6 seconds, tops out at 95mph, yet gives you 75miles on a gallon, you’re not going to be holding up the traffic or diminishing world oil resources. Three wheel disc brakes with ABS and ASR give exceptional stopping power, with, of course, 50% more rubber on the road than a motorcycle’s. (Best to use the rear and front handbrakes rather than the footbrake.)
