Vw Passat 1.9TDI 52 reg - Car not starting 29 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Just recenly the car will start from cold but not once warmed up AA sprayed easy start into air intake and car started first time, been in garage for 2 days now and they cant find the problem plenty of diesel from the pump but it is not getting to the injectors. There are no blockages within the fuel filter which is new but the car doesn't seem to have any fuel for starting only when running. Can't find any air leaks and or any crimped pipes. As stated car started first time with Easy Start in the air intake pipe but won't start on its own. -

Volkswagen Passat (2005 - ) - 05 2.0 TDI PD140 diesel leak from new car 7 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Called dealer who expressed surprise!!. Took it in today and after 1 hour of checking was told that tandem fuel pump was leaking and needed replacing. No spares available in UK so must wait about 1 week for spare to be sent from Germany. Any others experienced this with the new Passat. Could this be related to the earlier recall of TDI based VW's due to ill fitting bolts on the fuel pump housing??? -

Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 94 1.4d lack of power 17 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The thing is that it can only do 75mph maybe 77mph and I think it should do 90mph. The oil and water seem clean. I've drained the fuel filter and tried again with the air box off. It starts up very well and the engine is very quiet (compared to a 306 1.9d with 165k anyway) I've got a new fuel filter and air filter in the post. The brakes are not dragging, I've checked each wheel. -

Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.8 Diesel issue 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
If it was a petrol engine, I'd say I had an intermittent ignition problem, but I'm not all that familiar with diesels. Don't think it would be the fuel distibution pump or an injector, or it would happen more often. Could it be a fuel filter maybe ? Any help or guideance would be much appreciated from you diesel speciallists :-) Good long weekend to all..............englishbullterrier -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 94 2.0d Won't start 24 Feb 2009 (Forum)
The battery has a full charge. I was wondering if it could be the fuel cut of solinoid jammed shut but surely it would then not run if it was bump started ? Or if it is an immobilser problem? Please help as i am at the end of my temper...... -
LPG conversions -- resale values 3 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Driving say 20K per year, the extra costs of insurance, tax etc would be countered nicely by the cheaper fuel (maybe 30mpg at 55p/l vs 50mpg at 105p/l). Question is, what is the likely resale value of either car after say three years? Still worth it? -

Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 04 2.3 Zugara - Tyres 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The wrong size is a much cheaper tyre than the original and only differs in rolling circumference by -2%. However, this means a 2% increase in fuel consumption. Opting for the wrong size will save around £120 for a set of tyres but inrease the fuel bill by 2%. Any thoughts? -

TDCi Focus cutting out 13 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Having rolled to a "safe" stop so far, the engine has then started fine straightaway. A friend has told me to check the fuel filter for contaminants as my fist step, is that correct? I thought that contaminated fuel would produce misfiring etc? What are your thoughts? Dave http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm? -
Road pricing is inevitable if...... 13 Jul 2007 (Forum)
VED is just a tax on possession, so I don't think could be morally justified at the level that would be needed to replace fuel duties. So if battery packs get better, get used to the idea coming to a road near you.
