  • Jaguar X-Type Estate (2004 - 2007) - 05 2.2D fuel pump ? 9 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Next day collected car from them, which started first time would you believe & she drove the 25 min journey like a dream. After a few days Jag technician rang to say my fuel pump has broken-up & deposited bits everywhere, so will need replacing along with injectors, some rail thing or other, filters, fuel tank drained & goodness only knows what else.

  • Farewell chug a chug Diesels - you served us well. 13 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The finger of time draws a curtain over period where small economical diesels saved their owners a fortune in fuel bills - and... they could be used as desired without problems. Usually weighing in at around 1,000kg - family cars with decent sized boots and fuel tanks and with full size spare wheels. Pity about the smoke.

  • Volvo C30 (2006 - 2009) - Poor fuel economy. 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I purchased a Volvo C30 2.0Ltr Diesel Powershift (Auitomatic) back in December 2008. I am in the main, highly deleighted with the car except for its appaling fuel economy. I purchased this car after owning a MkV Golf 1.9 TDI DSG (Automatic), owing to the Volvo's stunning good looks (in my opinion lol) and chose the engine and gerabox being as near to my Golf's spec as possible.

  • Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - 2000 1.3 SR Increase in fuel consumption 14 Oct 2008 (Forum)
SWMBO bought a three year old 1.3 SR Yaris in 2003 with about 20k miles on clock - since then she has clocked up another 58k and car has performed faultlessly - in fact it passed it's MOT again without anything being done to it last Friday. Over the last few months I have noticed the computer fuel consumption figures have dropped - in all the years it has constantly read around 44-48 mpg and I had no trouble getting it up to 50 mpg - however it's now reading 39-41 - it runs well and starts first time - Now when starting up from cold I can smell slight whiff of petrol and after first 200yrds to first tee junction when lifting foot off throttle the engine speed doesn't drop instantly like it used to -- I have given it a few Italian tune ups (she drives steady) cleaned plugs and changed air filter - There is no temp gauge only a blue symbol of thermometer and that goes out after about 1 1/2 miles - heater gets hot quickly - so before I ask my local Mobile Auto Tune specialist to come and plug his kit on has anyone any advise as what I could look for - I feel it has to be something simple and connected to cold startup as when engine is hot and I reset computer to zero the fuel consumption figure is back up to 44-48 but after startup next morning it drops back to low 40's and if she does a few cold starts during day it gets even lower -- Doing a tank full to tank full consumption work out it's coming out at 44-45.
  • which fuel (petrol) 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
petrol stations - and the misfire never recurred. I'm sure it's fine to use from time to time, but since then I would no longer use supermarket fuel ALL the time. In any case, the price advantage seems much lower nowadays than it used to be.
  • Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 03 1.4 HDI poor fuel economy, how to identify prob 12 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I really am very meticulous about this, as I know it's not the most accurate way of measuring fuel but I simply cannot bring myself to spend £50 in one go on fuel, until I start earning money again. I have done this since owning the car, fill up at exactly the same point every time by 2 gallons and reset fuel gauge.

  • 3p increase 29 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Well done to the fair fuel prices people for helping to stop the 3p a litre increase in August. It will hopefully help to keep the price of everything that comes by road down.

Fuel's more expensive, cost more to maintain and service, and I hear endless stories of blown turbos etc. Gimme a petrol any day.

Is there a difference in cetane rating between Ultra Low Sulohar Fuel and ordinary unleaded petrol? I appear to get considerably less mpg with ULSF than standard unleaded.
