Renault 5-Tech - First Drive 22 Feb 2025 (Forum)
Long anticipated first time in and drive today of the new Renault 5. I wanted one before I saw it, and that desire has now increased. I’ve only driven it for 20 minutes, in a test track environment, but I’ll be spending longer in one in February. -
2025 Honda HRV Advance hybrid. 1500cc/motor. - Best drive mode for overall efficiency 30 Nov 2024 (Forum)
The excellent local Honda Dealership staff have recommended that I always drive in 'sport' gear mode for an overall efficient performance, rather than 'normal' or 'eco'. The exception is in town traffic. They say that technically this makes sense. I would welcome informative comments from Tech people in the know. -

Hyundai i10 - Traffic roundabout with Apron 25 Aug 2022 (Forum)
They all have and "aprons" around them about 3m wide with a solid white line at the edge. Because of the size of the road large vehicles have to drive over the apron and have seen an attempted overtake on the roundabout. Cars are now ignoring the road and driving over the apron. What is the law regarding driving over the aprons - are they legally part of the Carriageway? -
Vauxhall Corsa-e - EV Test Drives 26 Apr 2021 (Forum)
If anyone is interested in experiencing an EV for a couple of days, Vauxhall are currently offering 48 hour test drives with Corsa-E and Mokka-E. They'll both do 150 miles easy on one charge, so as long as it's fully charged as you collect it there probably won't be a need to plug it in again. I've spent a couple of days in the new Mokka (including the EV), and it's a big step forward for Vauxhall. -
Any - Relaxed driving in London 20 Sep 2020 (Forum)
Traffic was light, and even found somewhere to Park just off westbourne grove, (waitrose) £5 an hour limited to 3 hours or free if you spend £50.. I usually hate driving in inner London, but that was a nice change. -

I have just noticed that my driving licence photocard had expired in May 2020 so I have filled in the online forms and paid for the renewal which I understand is supposed to arrive within 2 weeks. I was given instructions to cut the photocard into 2 and post back to Swansea. -
Renewal of driving licence over 73 9 Jun 2018 (Forum)
A good friend who is approaching 73 had his reminder and declaration for the driving licence renewal. The guidance said either complete on line or send the licence with a complete form. Not wishing to send off his licence he attempted to send the health declaration on line but was refused when he pressed the send. -

Any - Drink driving advert in Legal section of Backroom 8 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Does anyone else find the advert in the legal section of the backroom (company is called www.drinkdrivingsolicitor.co.uk/) offensive? Personally I feel that if someone gets caught for drink driving they should accept the penality that goes with their stupidity. I know that HJ is a commercial site and has to make money by carrying adverts, but I really do think this is inappropriate for a motoring site (although the target audience is probably the right one). -
Ford Escort - Mobile phone driving offence 18 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Today I was stopped by police for allegedly talking on a mobile phone whilst driving. The pc issued a ticket and stated the usual consequences, 3 points and fine, but he didn't take my number or ask to see phone, which I thought they did. How can they prove in court I was committing the alleged offence? -

Ford Transit Popular - Ford Transit Popular cutting out 28 Nov 2011 (Forum)
HI, When I start the van the engine just cuts out unless I drive it right away. When I come to a stop the engine cuts out as well. While driving without stopping there are no problems and it drives perfect. The battery light comes on when I come to a stop. I take it this would be most likely a battery fault? -
