Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 1999 1.1i - idle/carb 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I have finally changed my stepper motor (bosch monopoint) as well as the carb as it was all connected and easier to do. The car now starts fine. How do I check if the car is running rich as such or do the electrical cables sort all of that out?, and can I automatically adjust the idle?? Thanks, Richard. -
SAAB 9-3 Sportwagon (2005 - ) - Buying advice please! 9 Mar 2008 (Forum)
We about to trade our 2004 Vectra CDTI 117k miles for either a 9-3Sportswagon Diesel, A4 Avant TDI, Volvo V50 2.0D or a Honda CRV diesel. The car is for my partner and whilst i'd prefer the Audi because of build and proven running gear, her in doors prfers the Swedish or Japanese option. Any information/ opinions would be appreciated. Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 88-95 Isuzu 1.7 diesel engine power loss (turbo ?) 7 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Just bought a cheap run around and after a few days of driving it, i have noticed a big loss in power whilst going up hills. Thought it may be the turbo as when i felt it, it was cool to touch. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. -
CCTV cameras are they used for 'spying' ? 31 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Does anyone know if their purpose is purely to combat "aggro" outside pubs and clubs, or do some police forces also use them as a weapon to spy on the motorist..ie; illegal parking, running traffic lights, number plate checking etc. -
Fuel Consumption Figures! 22 Dec 2007 (Forum)
i have always wondered why i have never achieved the official mpg provided by parkers, what car etc. i wanted to know who advertises these figures and are they genuine for instance could a land cruiser Prado producing 31 mpg and an land cruiser amazon producing 25 mpg actually be more economical in a real life day to day running. it could be possible as i have heard but i want to know your opinions -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 01 TDi 130 - Engine hesitation above 3000rpm 20 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Good morning, I have a 2001 Passat TDI 130 SE estate with 107k on the clock. It runs very well apart from one thing: it does not like accelerating above 3000 rpm. The engine hesitates and will accelerate but in a very jerky manner. Any thoughts very welcome please. S -
Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 96, 1.6Misfiring - coil packs? 10 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Stepson's 90K mile 1.6 petrol Megane sounds as if it is running on only 2 cylinders, which seems likely to be due to a dodgy coil pack. (He drove it downhill to our house, not surprisingly it won't drive back up the hill to the local indie's garage) Are these a dealer only item and is a new coilpack a straightforward fix? -

Cars and Stripes 10 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Have I missed a major social or cultural event? I'm seeing more and more cars with two stripes running front to back on them. The cars are usually blue, the stripes usually white. I've seen it on lots of Minis but it doesn't seem to be model specific (also Focii, Peugeots etc). Was it the Italian Job remake (which I never saw)? -
Computer Related Questions - Volume 139 2 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I believe my PC has a virus which is preventing it running Windows. I have tried starting it with a floppy but it will not respond. I am using Mandrake Move to post this message which indicates me a Window s problem. Pressing F8 on start up does not work either. -
Diesel rich valves 29 Sep 2007 (Forum)
We're going back to the '50s or '60s, and we couldn't remember which manufacturer had this facility. Would 'elf'nsafety allow this nowadays, and how many poor beggars got run over because it was still in gear? sss -
Is a leaking fuel tank an MOT failure? 27 Aug 2007 (Forum)
My wife's J-reg Toyota Starlet is leaking fuel from the seam half way up the tank. If she runs it quite low and puts in no more than £8 of fuel at a time, then the level stays below the seam and there's no leak. If the leak area looks dry, will the MOT tester fail it? Thanks for any advice A new tank is approx £150 from Toyota. -
Accord: what tyre pressures? 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I'm a bit puzzled by the tyre pressure label on my Accord... it looks like this: ~160kph: 33/30 (front/rear) 160~kph: 38/35 I'm guessing that you're supposed to use the higher pressures when travelling above 100mph, but why? And if I do a lot of motorway driving at about 70mph, can I try running them at the higher pressure to get better fuel economy? Cheers, David. -
Renault Twingo (1995 - 2005) - Loosing coolant 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
After about 60 miles driven, the car looses about 2 pints of water. There are no indications of any leakage. The engine runs perfectly. No sign of any water coming from the exhaust pipe either. I am planning to have a compression test carried out, to see wheather the head gasket is leaking, but what other clue would be there to find the fault? -
05 Astra 1.8 - Rattle on startup 12 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I'm new to Vauxhalls so I'm not sure of a rattle on startup, it comes from the offside of the engine where I think the belts would be. After a few miles the sound disappears, I thought it could be something running short of oil at startup. Can anyone help with this ? mike72. Slight Tweak to Subject Line - PU
