  • Ferrari 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Whilst I am not intending to sell it again in the forseeable future, neither do I want it to be worthless. Which also leads to the point that if I put 8000 miles a year on it, it will be, within two years, a *very* high mileage Ferrari. Again, not from a value point of view, but from a maintenance and reliability point, what impact would this have ?
  • Fiat Brava 1.4 timing belt. 24 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I do wonder if it isn't just the plastic pulley breaking but also this whipping movement that is leading to failure. If it was my own car I would modify the tensioner pulley mounting to give a rigid tensioned setting. But with the customers all I can do is fit the correct Fiat parts to the Fiat methods and not worry further.
  • If you don't want to get a ticket "just" 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
An increasing number of road works, while being heavily enforced with cameras and unmarked police vehicles, do not bother with de-restriction signs at the end of the limit, instead relying on the 'road works end' sign. This can lead to a dangerously high speed differential between locals who know the limit has ended and visitors to the area who continue at the lower speed, unsure whether the limit extends to further road works.

  • Mazda CX-5 - Car breakdown very soon after service 7 Aug 2025 (Forum)
As a result, the injector needs to be replaced, an exhaust regeneration performed to clean it and a new battery, leading to a bill of almost £1000 including £400 just for the replacement injector. The car is 9 years old and has 110k miles on the clock, so it's not unreasonable that an injector would fail, but the timing makes me feel uncomfortable given the issues began almost immediately after the service.
  • Ford Focus ST - Used Car dealer purchase - Refund requested 20 Jul 2021 (Forum)
He had to pay a week before the car was delivered, but they won't refund until they have the car back, which seems somewhat unfair given all the hassle that he has had to lead on to try and resolve. Where does he stand in all of this ? Regards

  • Honda Jazz - Find My Daughter a Car - final Entry 15 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Its got a new MOT and the garage have done the advisories and a minor service (oil / filters) Everything works even though it is 12 years old, and its been looked after as far as we can tell by previous owners. On researching the Jazz in detail however there is a huge design flaw with them that leads to water in the boot. The seam weld at the top of the rear hatch on both sides is not always joined / sealed correctly and eventually leaks water down the inner panels which lands in the boot wheel well.
  • Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - Advice after MOT Fail 27 Jan 2020 (Forum)
I was horrified to see that the MOT fail for dangerously worn brake pads is on there from 2018. This leads me to two conclusions. Either the brake pads had not been replaced in the February, which I paid for and still have the receipt for, or the garage thought that they would try and charge me for new brake pads which I clearly didn't need.
