  hi folks, i have a 53 plate caddy sdi thats just started losing power on roundabouts or quick turns. once in straight line picks up and drives normaly.  Fuel filter recently changed. strange one can anyone help

  i drove to the park today and the car was fine but when we got back in to drive home the instrumental panel wasn't working - so no movement on speedo, revs, fuel and temp gauges.  everything else was working - is this a fuse probem or sometheng else?  all help gratefully received!

  I have just put another engine in my 1.8 diesel partner van i can get fuel to the pump and blead it but know further, have tried with the ignition switched on, have also tried the old pump still the same. any ideas

  Hi, do you know of any successful claims made to Ford in relation to the 03 TDCI injectors/fuel pump know fault which was not rectified at the time? there are several threads in the technical area about this fault, since 2002. Thanks

  Fuel is at its highest ever price, huge amounts less are being sold so have any posters started cutting down on mileage? Many people have no choice but to grin and bear it if they use the car for work but trips to the offspring and days out are another matter.

    I BRIMMED it with normal diesel, then stuck some diesel additive that mentions lubricating fuel pumps on the bottle into the tank too. Reckon I got away with it? (Everything crossed)

  Anyone had what they might consider a slightly dodgy batch of Esso diesel recently? Filled up in Devon (almost empty tank) and fuel economy has dropped from 52mpg down to 39. Same journeys, same driving style, more or less the same conditions. {made non make/model specific}

  I found out my XT 2001 has no idle control valve.  Is that function built into the Throttle or do I not have fuel injection?  I am told to replace the ICV.  Now, do I replace the entire Throttle Body?

  Ford Focus - the speedo, rev counter, temp gauge and fuel gauge suddenly go to zero while driving and then come back to normal. Occasionally the engine warning light will come on for a minute and sometimes the ignition warning light does the same. Engine performance is not affected.

  How do car makers measure 0-60 times. Do they redline an engine or change up at say 3000 rpm? Is it done carrying a full tank of fuel? Is it done for real on a test track in perfect weather conditions or in a sterile lab along with the fictitious mpg figures?

  Hi, my 3.2 monterey starts revs with no problem. however when you try to accelerate hard it cuts out as though the fuel or electrics have failed. can anyone out there throw some light on this? frustrated jonny96

  why do people leave the headlights, fog lights and brake lights on when stationary? Has anyone done the math as to how much fuel is being used by 240 watts of lighting?

  Having recently changed from a 51 almera tino 2.2di to the more powerfull 05 2.2dci. I find that: 1/ The clutch pedal is a lot heavier, is this a cause for concern? 2/ Fuel consumption is up by about 10%

  HJ says, in his CBC breakdown "Plastic fuel filler pipe between cap and tank can develop hairline cracks leading to petrol fumes entering the cabin when the tank pressurises". Are there any other causes of (strong) petrol smells in these cars (2.0 ecotec hatchback)?
