  • Audi a6 2014 3.0l diesel 204 PS with 60k - Failed dpf regen forcing diesel into oil? 2 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I do short runs in the week and every weekend will drive it for at least 1 hours there and back.  Have just driven 600 to wales and back and had the dpf warning light on not long after this.        So the service manager told me if I didn’t add oil,  the only other option was that the DPF is failing to regen.
  • Any - DPFwhat is it about them 3 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Hi all this is my first post post and help someone can answer this question regarding DPF's. I see a lot of online advice that DPF's need to be activated (regenerated) at least once a week to stop them getting blocked, and this can be done by going at 50-60 mph for 10 minutes on a dual carriageway/motorway.
  • Audi A3 2008 1.9TDI - 87k Miles - Car Won't Start - Clicking as it tries to fire? 10 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi All,    I think this may be DPF related, but I'd like any other advice.    Our A3 Diesel has done 87k and has been fully serviced at all correct intervals. Every now and again the DPF light comes on and I take it out for the obligatory hammer down the motorway to clear it - this is all fine and we won't see the light again for a few months.

  • Toyota Avensis 2011 2.0 D4d Estate - Car Maintenane, DPF Filter & Low MPG 25 May 2015 (Forum)
Whats worrying is that full service was done at 69,000 miles, so why are there these issues with the car? Can someone guide me if its time to replace the dpf? The blue white smoke, horrible smoke smell and constantly low MPG.. do all these add up to some fault or am i just paranoid?? Also any suggestion like trying engine flushing treatments or do another full service and replace all filters & Engine oil please advise thank you
  • Skoda Octavia - VAG PD Engines 10 Nov 2022 (Forum)
And were the later engines fitted with pieso crystal injectors as opposed to electromagnetic as designed by Bosch ?  I do remember experts claiming that fitting a DPF to the PD engine was a disaster and VAG quickly moved on to use the 2.0 CR Diesel.
  • Toyota Rav 4 two wheel drive - May I have your views please 17 May 2021 (Forum)
But neither has air con so the search goes on and I have decided my ideal replacement is a RAV 4 diesel without no 4wd , manual and above all no Dpf . MK 2 up to 2010 ? Can you tell me what year the RAV 4 diesel was fitted with a Dpf ?
  • Audi A6 2008 - Garage repairs 6 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Good afternoon I'm after some advise on garage repairs, my car wouldn't start November 16, took it to Vw/ Audi specialist, he advised car had dpf filter blocked up also rocker cover needed to be removed and cleaned due to running car on incorrect oil,  I had a bill for replacement dpf from motor factors and fitting for £1045, car has been back in garage since end of January 17 due to breakdown, garage said oil filter was clogged solid and caused the engine to blow,  I'm not a mechanic, but Surley this should have been replaced when the original repair was done?
  • 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe - Sooty back end 6 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I have a 2014 Santa Fe 2.2 197 auto (diesel) that has a DPF. The car gets a sooty boot and the exhaust pipes are black.
  • 2.0 TDI A4 - Smoke/steam from exhaust 3 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I then revved it and it spat water out of one of the tail pipes (no smoke/steam from the other) Could this possibly be due to it sitting for a while and just needs a good drive to clear it? or does it sound like the start of a DPF regen (already has had a new DPF and egr fitted within 12k miles) Any help welcomed, thanks
  • Peugeot 308 SW (2008 - ) - DPF and electrical problems. 5 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi I would like some advice? I recently bought a peugeot 308 hatch, bought new and now it has done just over 20000kms. A fault registered on the LCD screen...

  • Suzuki Grand Vitara - Grand Vitara 1.9ddis buying advice - dpf concerns 15 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Having found the right car for our budget, age, colour mileage etc the only thing holding me back is the DPF issue and think maybe "better the devil you know" If anybody has some real feedback it would be appreciated as internet searches aren't especially constructive.
  • Farewell chug a chug Diesels - you served us well. 13 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Fuel consumption is up - for multi stop start running. Pity about that. How many have sold on that relatively new largish capacity diesel without a DPF in that almost reflex way we have in the UK with cars only a few years old? Without realizing that they would be disadvantaged by its DPF replacement. Was there ever a better `hidden` event in the history of motoring than the DPF scandal?
  • Mercedes A Class W169 - Diesel Issues 7 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I am not posting on a mercedes forum because I've found some owners seem to have rose coloured glasses with their marque of car ! I would be grateful for any comments on issues, esepcially when DPF needs replacing. The 2011 is at a Mercedes dealer and I wondered about trying to negotiate a new DPF being fitted - or is that too optimistic ? As always honest opinions valued, whatever the message.
  • VW Golf Estate/Audi A4 Avant - Additional long term costs of new diesel v petrol 1 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I’d like to stay with Audi VW cars. I have driven a ’54 VW Passat Estate 1.9TDI from new. It has 120k miles on the clock, no DPF and runs well.
  • Any - Family car for under £6k challenge 17 May 2012 (Forum)
Can't have under floor storage, must be reliable and have a large boot. If it's a diesel it can't have a DPF. Hit me up with your suggestions. The only car that fits most of those criteria at the moment is a Renault Megane Estate 1.5 DCI, or a Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDI, but I'm rather scared of those with reliability side of things (and with the pug the DPF).
  • TBC - Diesel or Petrol - The eternal question (DPF) 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
My question is, can I get aware with a diesel equivalent (to help my search for a car) yet not have to worry about DPF issues??  It is likely to be sat around for 3 or 4 days a week not moving, but a trip into work is only 15 Miles and only includes a short 5 minute dual carriage way drive followed by another 30 minutes of heavy traffic that generally moves, but not always.
  • The Dreaded Particulate Filter. 23 Dec 2016 (Forum)
My fear is that if I do buy a diesel I'm almost certainly going to encounter the dreaded DPF issue due to my short trips. Would this be a fair assumption or is it just that I'm just hearing the bad side of this subject? I'm happy to take the car out for a 'blast' along the motorway to keep the DPF in 'good fettle' but would I have to do this once a week/month/year or what?
  • Mercedes E Class estate 2015 - Mercedes DPF problems 23 Jan 2016 (Forum)
However, I live in London and will be using it around town and rarely on a long trip. I am aware diesels need to go on a run every so often to clean out the DPF. I have considered a 250CGI but I know it will be underpowered. I had had an Audi A6 which I had to do a run and currently have a BMW 5 touring diesel which in 1 year I've had to call Bmw out to clean out a valve, which worked.
