    Scrap car values increased in November, up by four per cent compared to October 2020 and 13 per cent year-on-year. November saw a second lockdown in England, the easing of the firebreak in Wales and increasing tiered restrictions in Scotland. November saw the highest average scrap car prices of the year so far, making it the seventh consecutive month to show an increase - according to CarTakeBack, one of the largest scrap car recycling networks in the UK.

    After being returned to the factory to fix the suspension problems that blighted early models, the car was sold on and registered as a road car before being put into long-term storage in 1966 where the car parted company with its original engine and ZF gearbox. Lotus Elite-specialist Mk14 Components recently restored the car, fitting the car with an FWE Climax engine that has steel crankshaft, lightened flywheel, and forged pistons.

    CTF 921 was first registered in February 1938, to Lancaster Police.  When its duties were done, it had a more sedentary life in the ownership of a Canadian who took such a shine to the car that he shipped it across the Atlantic when he returned to his homeland.   A subsequent American owner treated the car to light restoration before the car returned to the UK and now graces the Historics sale on March 12 th . This 76-year old is resplendent in its black coachwork and red interior trim, and mechanically is said to be faultless.

Our club is using this show to tell other youngsters that they needn't be scared of classic cars.

    Six new Jaguar E-type Lightweights are to be built by the factory, completing the original 1963-'64 run of cars. The new cars aren't strictly replicas, but are reproductions of the original, race-bred Lightweight E-type, which are better described as Continuation cars. The new cars are described by Jaguar as the missing six vehicles from the company's Lightweight E-type project, which originally started in February 1963 - with the objective of building 18 ‘Special GT E-type Cars’.

    “Model mix tends to change as fleet and lease cars can be held for the New Year, while dealers will often retain part-exchange vehicles to meet the January demand from retail customers. This aside, December continued the long term trend of rising average values in the wholesale markets and a new record was established, beating the previous highpoint which was seen exactly 12 months earlier in December 2012. ” He added “Looking ahead to 2014, there are no signs that the demand for retail quality used cars is going to ebb, so we expect values to remain strong.  Sourcing vehicles will continue to be a major concern for used car dealers and if the economy continues to improve, increasing retail demand could mean there is even more competition for stock in the remarketing sector.” Fleet and lease cars peaked at £9162 in November 2013, the second highest value on record, and prices were up £653 (7.6 per cent) on 2012.  
  • Porsche collection uncovered by Anglia Car Auctions 31 Jul 2013 (News)
    Anglia Car Auctions is to sell a private collection of around 200 Porsches during the course of the coming year, with the first 20 to be offered at its classic sale at Kings Lynn on Saturday 24 August.   The first slice of the collection to be offered in August will be barn finds, project cars as well as some still in perfect running order.

    The premier 50-minute race at MG Live on Saturday 25 June. This will be for 1950 to 1965 GT and Sports cars complying with the specifications required by FIA Appendix K and running on Dunlop L, M and R Section Historic tyres. The race, using the Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone, is for one or two drivers, with a mandatory pit stop.
