  • Jaguar S-Type (1999 - 2007) - Long term running report on an 04 diesel auto. 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
s sold back to the dealer it came from, they valued it as a buy in with 84K miles at £7K but actually gave me £10K for it against another S So to overall costs, including 4 x tyres, insurance, finance costs It has cost 29 pence per mile if you use the £10K valuation or 37 PPM if you use £7K. I loved it to bits & it has to be the first car I?ve EVER owned where I was happy to buy the same again & have just done so (details later!)
  • The best first wheels 23 Jan 2021 (Forum)
A car you had to lovingly search Gumtree or Autotrader for with a strict budget in mind. It’ll teach you more, it’ll be more fun and there’ll be no finance, no PCP with limited mileage, no contract lease with strict damage clauses. You buy it and run about in it care free, if done right. What then constitutes the best first car in your opinion? I say cast the net wide and look based more on condition and providence.
  • Mitsubishi Outlander - Could it be a failed DMF on a SST (Dual Clutch)?? 20 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Trying to deliberately induce clutch slip - steep hill, manual mode, 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear results in wheel spin (2wd) or acceleration (4wd) with no detectable slip. Finally! The cars got a couple of years of finance left, so I can't really afford to ditch it at a loss. But I also have a warranty, however the nearest garage that is one of their "network" garages, that is even prepared to look at this is a Peugeot dealer - 100ml round trip (the 4007 was identical to the Outlander).
  • Engine issues apparently unfixable - what are my options? 7 Jul 2016 (Ask HJ)
I'm unfortunately in a really sticky situation with a 2010 SEAT Leon 2.0 TDI CR FR. I bought the car new in 2010 from a main SEAT dealer, and the car has...
  • Lexus RX 450h - Lexus Dealership 1 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Lexus who win dealership awards year in year out, then do this. I contacted the financial ombudsman, who stated as no finance was involved, couldn't investigate. CAB have been contacted, but have stated, that the word of mouth clarification, will be difficult to prove. Please has anyone got any ideas please. Thanks in advance Dave
  • BMW M3 CS - Multiple Faults from purchase, No Help from Dealer 15 Jun 2013 (Forum)
This is my 5th BMW and my 3rd 'M' so I know a bit about them. I paid £12,000 (partly though Close Motor Finance) the vehicle had covered 75,000 miles on a '55 plate. I arrived at the dealership at the pre-arranged time to collect my vehicle and was told "its not here - the boss has been driving it". Now in hindsight I should have compalined about this and I would have had I of known of things to come....
  • I unknowingly bought a pre-registered car - what are my rights? 4 Apr 2017 (Ask HJ)
I bought a car two months ago and haven't received the registration document. I've contacted the DVLA and found out that they don't have my car details...
  • Vauxhall/Audi/Seat - Changing my 2 cars 27 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Time will tell.   Audi Q3 - This gets traded in next saturday for an A4. It is financed on a PCP deal and IO had little intention of changing it. A call from the dealer offering me an A4 1.8TFSI 170 SE Technik for the same monthly payment and a noticable reduction in the Final payment compared to the Q£ swayed my mind.
  • Mike Rutherfords Champions 7 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Also, I'm sorry to say that I've got Ford in mind - not because its products are in poor shape, but because its crucially important finances are. Within the past few days, it has been revealed that Uncle Henry lost an average of over $1billion a month during the last full financial year. And there's also the little matter of the crippling $20-odd billion mortgage the firm has recently had to take out to help keep itself afloat.
  • Service history 7 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Excuse the rambling but essentially what I’m saying is that you need to verify not only if a car has been clocked, been in an accident or if there’s any outstanding finance, you also need to verify (certainly in the case of high end stuff) that it’s actually seen spanners and fresh oil in its life. Look at the service book. Check the cars details inside, do they match the car?
  • Our Carioca motorhome was to be supplied with the wrong upholstery and by rejecting it we are in breach of contract. Why? 11 Sep 2010 (Ask HJ)
At a recent show, we paid £1000 deposit on a Carioca 746 Motorhome on 16 October 2009 at a price of £40,000 (plus extras of approximately £2000). The van...
  • Choosing an MPV 14 May 2007 (Forum)
Out of our budget obviously but we decided to look at it due to the rave reviews. I was thinking that if my wife fell in love with it, then maybe we could finance it differently. The demo car had the rearmost seats folded in to the floor when we first went to it. A couple of minutes fiddling around, and we could not find how to pull up the seat. Salesman came over, he couldn?
  • SPECS Camera Flaw 19 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The company's technical director Graeme Southwood said that when the devices were approved by the Home Office in 1999, they passed strict tests for use in one lane at a time. But there was not enough time or finances to extend Home office approval tests to cover the cameras' use over two or three lanes at a time. This has created the loop-hole. He still claimed - without spelling out any detail - that this loop-hole was not actually foolproof and that some of those who attempt to use it will still face a speeding prosecution.
  • Scam 21 Jul 2003 (Forum)
You were right to be suspicious = but just think how many others will fall for it? Iain www.cheap-finance.co.uk as it says cheap Uk finance Sun Jun 01, 2003 8:58 am Guest Nearly got me I was nearly taken in with this exact scam, but instead I waited for the cheque to actually clear. Menwhile this guy, calling himself Daniel Sylvestre, kept on calling me and hassling me me for the money trying to make me feel guilty.
