  • Citroen C3 - air leaking into diesel lines 10 Nov 2011 (Forum)
my car sometimes stops whilr driving along normally and would ot restart.few hours later or next morning car starts normally.had a good look at the engine and disconnected and reconnected all the diesel lines.i suspect there was a leak in the fuel feed line, which works by sucking fuel from tank(there is no pump in the tank) and removing and refitting the lines fixed the problem.is there a kit to change the orings in the quick release fuel line connectors?

Ullo all, I've been googling around but have failed to find a decent answer - just trying to get a general idea of what the typical fuel tank capacity for an average British / European car is. I know that's not very specific, but I'm not after specifics, just generalities. Sorry I'm not too clued up about matters motoring, but this is a genuine question - thanks for any responses.

  • enhancing the lubricity of diesel 17 Nov 2010 (Forum)
much seems to have been made about the components of common rail injection systems which are lubricated by the fuel itself. i.e. high pressure pump, injectors etc. Seeing as some of the long-running horror stories seem to concentrate on the use of "contaminated fuel" or supermarket-grade fuel - I wonder if there is a product on the market that can be added to diesel to provide additional lubricity?

  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Temp and fuel gauges 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have just had my Lambda sensor replaced on friday and have noticed over the weekend that when I switch off my ignition, my temp and fuel gauges shoot up to the 12 o'clock positon and remain there till I restart the engine, whereupon they show the correct readings. Could the replacement of the Lambda sensor have caused this problem?
  • Jeep Cherokee (1993 - 2001) - 01 4.0 Fuel pump at reasonable price? 20 May 2009 (Forum)
Someone I know with a 4l Cherokee with an lpg conversion needs a new petrol pump as the old one is kaput. It fits inside the fuel tank and needs a special gasket too. Finding the right part is quite difficult and finding it at a reasonable price, very. Does anyone know of a good no-nonsense supplier of such things? Us sources are often best especially for price.
  • Is more fuel used going one way or the other? 20 May 2009 (Forum)
My journey to work is made up of five or six miles chugging through town, 30mph limit and several junctions, followed by five or six miles easy run on a 50mph dual carraigeway. Am I likely to use more fuel going to work - when I do the poor economy part of the journey from cold, or going home, when the car is much warmer when it reaches the stop/start section?

  • putting car insurance on fuel cost 20 Dec 2007 (Forum)
They just nominated a company they wanted to represent them and the Government paid that firm, apparently an annual retainer and whatever extra insurance costs the motorists incurred. The Government put a levy for this on the price of fuel. It meant that no motorist was uninsured as they were going to have to pay for the insurance anyway. This strikes me as a very good idea and I'd like to hear comments on this from the forum, please.
