EV dual motors - why? 10 Jun 2023 (Forum)
Do the drivers get option to run 1 motor or it is both must run at same time? Lastly, why one would choose dual motors version as this would drain battery faster * = There are some ICE cars (e.g. RAV4) with a motor at rear axle to provide 4WD capability. -
Vw golf gte - Hybrid car 7 Feb 2023 (Forum)
I’m looking for a car that’s a self charging and plug in hybrid along the lines of a golf gte, where it can either be plugged in or charge when driving. During the week it would be used for short journeys so hopefully would run on battery, then at the weekends longer motorway journeys. Other than the golf what other makes and models could I look at with similar capabilities, obviously not all would have the golf gte performance and my budget is around £18000 -
Self charging hybrids? 8 Jan 2023 (Forum)
My limited knowledge of the technology suggests that a self charging hybrid doesn’t really suit my driving style. Once the EV battery has been exhausted of charge surely I wouldn’t be driving enough using the petrol engine alone to recharge it? -
BMW 4 Series - BMW RDCI FAULT CODE 4806B8H/4720312 4 May 2022 (Forum)
Hi I’m having repeated RDCI errors - I’m hoping it’s just one of the sensor batteries but got the following code when I plug into computer but can’t locate what this code means? Any ideas ? Also have error code 4806DAH/4720346 which i’ve found online stating RDCI WHEEL ELECTRONICS NO RECEPTION FRONT RIGHT I assume this is the drivers front side ? -
Why are electric cars so expensive? 4 Sep 2020 (Forum)
I cannot understand why an ordinary hatchback can cost £15,000 but the electric equivalent is £30,000.On the £15,000 petrol engined cars there is the engine,gearbox,catalytic converter,fuel tank,pipe work etc that is missing on the electric car.This makes the petrol car at least £5,000 less,then add in the electric motor,batteries and control gear would only add £10,000 to the price so an electric car should be around the £20,000 mark to buy.I think we are being ripped off somewhere? -
Best way to sell of an old car - No MOT 16 Jul 2020 (Forum)
My MOT was due, took it to regular garage who told me informally it needs £350 worth of repair inc MOT. The battery is zero. Can't recharge it. Light don't come on. When it does fire up by jump starting the engine sounds great. The garage mechanic said it is n't a write off. Are there people who buy these things? -
2008 VW Polo 1.4 Petrol - Doesn't Start Sometimes 11 Oct 2019 (Forum)
It turns freely for as long as you'll let it, just won't fire. If you stop and try again straight away, it fires up fine. No error codes or warning lights. Battery is good. Car runs fine otherwise. Seems totally intermittent - regardless of wether engine is hot or cold, and damp weather etc. Any ideas what I can check? -

Mechanic and auto-electrician have had a look at it,no mechanical faults showing on diagnostics. They have tried resetting code and also disconnected battery and reconnected but to no avail. New coil pack has been tried as well Any suggestions? -

Warranty is 12 months. Modern electronics should last longer. I remember reading about batteries vs capacitors and NextBase replaced cameras. Thanks -

Good afternoon Sadly, thought I had the code on a small card in my service book... :( Anyway, after a battery change need a code if possible please. From pressing 1 & 6 together, I think the code you guys need is 820208. Does not seem to have an M or V in front of it though... Thanks in advance if you can help please :) -

I have just had a new battery put on my car and the radio wants a code? Nothing in the Handbook or Service Book? I have taken the radio out and found the serial number as M008338, I was hoping the code would have been on the back of the radio but no such look. -

I bought a 2009 galaxy recently and had the garage replace the car battery. Since then the radio refuses to work? I have found what appears to be the seriel number which is V041637 If this is correct can anyone say what the code is and how exactly do I enter it in the 6000cd player standard to the year. -

Hi, My 2007 Landrover Freelander will not lock my car with the key fob. The car starts and stops with no problem using the key fob. I am lead to believe that the battery in the key fob charges everytime it is inserted into the ignition when starting the car so i am thinking the key fob is charged. Has anyone any suggestions why my car will not lock using the key fob? -

Claimed: 303 miles Actual: 147 miles So not ideal for longer trips unless you can spare an hour or so to top up the batteries, then (and assuming you can actually find a charging point that's available). -

As i have replaced glow plugs but car stills struggels to start etc. And everything obvious has been checked/replaced. Battery, glow plugs, filters etc. The car has always been very reliable, so want it back that way. Many thanks. -

Hi all, Rumour has it that the Toyota Prius eats brake discs and pads in an effort to regenerate the batteries. I'm looking at maybe a 10 plate Prius or a 12/13 plate Auris. Does anyone here have any specific knowledge of this on either the Prius or Auris, ie owners old and new or technical experts. -
VW Golf - Rodent Damage 1 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Hi Has any body had experience of rodent damage to the car engine.I attempted claim from my car insurance company when I discovered that rodents had chewed many hoses ,rubber pipes ,battery cables in the car engine.The insurance company claimed this could not have occured in one incident but over a period of time.As I don't check the engine every week I am unable to prove this happened from one attack. -
Renault 1998 Scenic Megane - TDC sensor 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Drove about 300 yards and the car just died at an busy intersection. Wouldn't turn over to restart. Had it towed. 3 lights remained on. The Oil light,Battery Light and the Coolent light Now 4 days after the same lights stay on and motor won't turn over. Have I blown a circuit or is it possibly the TDC sensor or does it sound the problem is worse?
