  Caught a snatch of the news yesterday about Ford investing in a new/existing production facility as a high tech diesel engine factory. The reporter said Ford was making this investment as it regarded diesel as "the" fuel of the future. Ten years ago I thought diesel fuel was encouraged by our "leaders", recently less so......are we going the other way again? David

  3/ Is it normal to have to continue to prime once the engine has started? 4/ Should an air bubble rise from the direction of the fuel pump to the fuel filter outlet when the engine is stopped? Or do I still have an air lock/leak maybe in the fuel pump area? 5/ Should the fuel drain away from beyond the fuel filter if I disconnect the filter outlet pipe or should it hold there waiting for the main fuel pump to suck it in and compress it?

  He went away very happy however 9 months down the road it has now done the same thing again. Warranty has told him where to go as he has been running it on bio fuel but I don?t know much about bio fuel and can?t see how or why it should do this to the oil and wreck his engine? Think he is now going to learn a hard lessen and not run it on bio fuel being it?s now going to cost him a new engine but I would like to know more if any of you are a wiz on this fuel or know of a web site as jeep technical don?

  The fuel computer still works and is 100% accurate!  I find it strange as following 8 years of driving various HGV's as a job, every truck fuel computer is accurate to within the 0.1 of a mile. I have been paid on fuel bonus with 3 different companies and they always come back in response to fuel receipts with what is displayed on the truck dashboard.

  My thoughts were confirmed as the O2 voltage never gets to zero but is constantly oscilating between 0.2 and 0.7 volts meaning the closed loop fueling algorithm is working and hunting 14.7AFR.. So even if I am at closed throttle and 4000rpm or 3000rpm, there is no fuel cut - the engine is burning fuel and that explains the low MPG. I also checked the throttle on the OBD and it stays at 18% (it is relative, that's why it is at 18%) and at WOT is around 94% so it seems ok.

  Our mechanic ran various checks ruling out a blown head gasket. When he checked the fuel he found that it was oily and concluded that the fuel was contaminated. The oil hadn't come from the car (oil was fine) and the last place we had filled up was in a France. The fuel was drained (we have retained the fuel) and new petrol put in.
