which fuel (petrol) 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
petrol stations - and the misfire never recurred. I'm sure it's fine to use from time to time, but since then I would no longer use supermarket fuel ALL the time. In any case, the price advantage seems much lower nowadays than it used to be. -

3p increase 29 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Well done to the fair fuel prices people for helping to stop the 3p a litre increase in August. It will hopefully help to keep the price of everything that comes by road down. -
Are Diesels worth the hassle ? 11 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Fuel's more expensive, cost more to maintain and service, and I hear endless stories of blown turbos etc. Gimme a petrol any day. -

Does anyone know where I can find information on fuel consumption and maintenance/off-road issues for the vans like the Ford Connect and Vauxhall Combo? -
The Moto GP Thread - Vol 1 13 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Absolutely! Far more entertaining. Be interesting to see if any of them run out of fuel under the new rules. -

Has anyone out there used this fuel by Shell ? I have read good reports about it, but i wonder if it is worth the additional expense. -
ulsf 10 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Is there a difference in cetane rating between Ultra Low Sulohar Fuel and ordinary unleaded petrol? I appear to get considerably less mpg with ULSF than standard unleaded. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 03 1.4 HDI poor fuel economy, how to identify prob 12 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I really am very meticulous about this, as I know it's not the most accurate way of measuring fuel but I simply cannot bring myself to spend £50 in one go on fuel, until I start earning money again. I have done this since owning the car, fill up at exactly the same point every time by 2 gallons and reset fuel gauge. -
BMW 318i 2006 - Fuel Leak on Used Car - What Do I Do? 9 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I've now found that the car is leaving 2 stains in my parking space - 1 at the front which is probably the oil leak & another at the rear in front of the rear wheel near the fuel flap. Have noticed an occasional fuel smell from the rear, but it wasn't always apparent. Had a look under the car & there is a visible patch on the underside in the same place. A quick Google on E90 fuel leaks suggest that a breather pipe which chafes on bodywork could be the culprit & would also explain the non-constant nature of the leak as it probably occurs when I fill the car up (twice since I bought it & only to the pump click). -
Poor fuel quality Kent SE England? Vol 3 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Automotive expert Professor Malcolm Fox, from the University of Leeds, said all the signs pointed towards some form of liquid silicone having got into the fuel. He added: "The analysis from the suppliers shows that the fuel is okay, so it must be a very minor, low concentration contaminant. "When it burns , it will form silicon dioxide and will deposit a very thin sheet on the sensor - the sensor is in the exhaust - and that probably gives a false signal to the engine computer." -
When was ‘peak petrol’? 27 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I’m minded to say some point after fuel injection became standard, but before petrol particulate filters, an excess of sensors and electronic ‘stuff’ and before the recent oddities such as belt in oil cam belts. Perhaps the answer is a similar time period to ‘peak diesel’? -
Citreon picasso - Advice on a car that fits 3 isofix 3 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Hi I currently have a bmw 1 series diesel 2016, it has been great, low tax, low on fuel and had no issues with it at all, so am I really sad to be having to look for something else but I really need a 3 isofix or 3 full adult seats at the back. Now I am looking at a Citreon picasso 2017, how fuel efficient are these and are they solidly built? -
Missfueling Ad Blue into the diesel tank 26 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Apparently Adblue poured into the diesel tank causes a massive amount of damage to the injectors, fuel lines etc. A salutary tale but only 30 cases have been reported to the AA. A call to them before driving off would have limited the damage to a drain and clean ! Audi refuse liability as one of the fuel caps is coloured blue and marked Adblue but is adjacent to the diesel cap. -
Travelling to a place of work - Vol 1 29 Apr 2020 (Forum)
I travel in a 2.0 diesel montego and roughly get about 45 mpg and it works out to about £45-£50 per week in fuel. What distance and time do you all have to travel to get to work, what car, and how much fuel do you need? -
Kia Sportage 2020 1.6 GDi - The Drive Home, First impressions 3 Mar 2020 (Forum)
50 ish mile home, Ebbsfleet to Dartford crossing on the old A road, then M25 and A12 home. Fuel consumption showed as 38mpg in old money. No creaks or groans, everything that i tried worked. So far so good -
Toyota Auris Hybrid - Range Counter reduces using EV 1 May 2019 (Forum)
I don't understand how this can be. The range of the car at any one time is usually measured by the level of fuel in the tank. As the level of fuel reduces so too will the range, which is all common sense. Why then, if the car is not running on petrol, does the range reduce? I may be missing something here but I'm left quite curious by what I've observed.
