• Problem with car - return or repair 8 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Purchased a used car over the phone a couple of weeks ago which was delivered with a problem (it occasionally jumps / stutters when accelerating). I have a 3 month Gold RAC warrenty with it, and the garage are telling me to just go through that to get it fixed but I am: a) concerned the fact the car was delivered with a fault b) worried my warrenty may not cover the issue (electrics for example are not covered) c) worried if my max claim of £100 is possibly a problem.

• Transfer of ownership 10 Nov 2005 (Forum)
If not I will do it now, but if they need proof of insurance it may be a couple weeks before it is covered. I wanted to wait until I sold my current car before transferring the insurance as I want the cover on the car I am selling for test drives etc. Not driving the new car would also be incentive to get rid of the old one quickly, rather than hanging on for weeks and weeks hoping for that little bit extra.

• Skoda Octavia - Oil Change Intervals Octavia 1.9 TDI 1 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Going to take a look at an 06 1.9TDI Octavia later today which seems a good price having done 80000 miles. The car doesn't have a full service history but I figure so long as I check that it hasn't covered too many miles between oil changes, I should be pretty safe. So my question is, what sort of mileage between oil changes would the car need to have covered to make me think I should be looking elsewhere?

• 2005 Ford Focus 1.6 - core plugs leaking on cylinder head 20 May 2013 (Forum)
Greetings. I've recently changed the valve cover gasket on this car which had cracked and found the spark plugs on 3 and 4 swimming. I know about the problem regarding the washers leaking onto the valve cover, but after fully drying the head, plugs and leads, this car ran like a sewing machine for 5 or so minutes then started to misfire.

• insurance requirements? 28 Nov 2002 (Forum)
If I register the 2nd car in my partners name then technically it's not owned by me so my insurance should cover me to drive it? sound reasonable? Is this legal? (might prove problematic when I try to re-tax it but can save me 12mths insurance in the meantime).
• Citroen C6 2.7 HDI - Warrantywise- am I wasting my time? 27 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I've just been contacted by a customer that bought a C6 from me roughly 7 months ago.  I supplied him with a Warrantywise Silver warranty (12mths)the highest level of cover for the car available due to age and mileage. It cost £288.        He's had a problem with the alternator, it stopped working!  The warranty booklet clearly states that alternators are covered by the Silver level warranty.

• Old - Sidelight Sun Damage 17 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I can probably get away with replacing these with cheap bicyle light covers, at least if I stay away from government inspection centres, but the other light covers may not be replaceable. I'm thinking maybe cover them with Clingfilm and maybe cover the car when not in use, which is most of the time.
• Warranty - whats not covered !! 26 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Being the owner of a Rover 25 1.8 GTI, and having read about possible head gasket failure, I took out a warranty at the end of the dealers warranty period. Three weeks ago the water pump and head gasket failed and I have just picked my car up from the garage. The total repair bill was £718 of which I have paid £411 and the warranty company has paid the remaining £307. I thought that this warranty covered all eventualities (naively) but, in fact, the warranty company are only liable to pay for one failed item per claim.
