XPeng X9 seven-seater headed to UK
- Seven-seat electric MPV confirmed
- Possible hybrid model to follow
- Tech spec not yet confirmed
- Arrives in the summer
Chinese brand XPeng has confirmed that its flagship seven-seat X9 model will make its way to the UK later this year. Available initially as an electric model, the X9 is a large MPV that will serve as a rival to the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 9, the Kia EV9 and PV5, and the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.
The specs for a UK model haven't yet been confirmed. In China, the X9 comes with a choice of power options, with single or dual motors, married to large batteries that give it an official range of up to 436 miles in China, although UK figures, verified through the WLTP testing process, are likely to be lower.
The Chinese-market X9 can also charge at up to 330kW, which would make it one of the fastest-charging cars in the country if that setup makes it over here. The car is also available with a range-extender engine in other markets, but there's no news yet whether that will come to the UK.
XPeng currently sells the G6 electric SUV in the UK to take on the Tesla Model Y and the like, and the larger G9 – a rival for the likes of the BMW iX – will follow soon. The XPeng P7+ – a saloon rival to cars like the Tesla Model 3 – will like head to British shores too.
2026 XPeng X9 price and release date
We know that the new XPeng X9 will arrive in the UK in the summer, but so far no price has been revealed. We'll update this story when we know more.
2026 XPeng X9 styling, interior and technology

The XPeng X9 is resolutely modern, with sleek LED lighting, a low bonnet and a relatively aerodynamic body shape for an MPV. Big alloy wheels go some way to disguising its boxy proportions, and many markets see it sport a panoramic glass roof to make the cabin seem more open. It might be a people carrier, but it's got visual aspirations akin to an SUV.
Inside and the X9 comes with seven seats, although some markets also offer a version with two captain's chairs on the second row to reduce the seating to six - for now, it's not clear if this variant will make it to UK shores.
While the UK spec has yet to be confirm, we can expect some eye-catching interior tech to come with the XPeng X9, with a high-end stereo system and a large central infotainment screen, possibly with a large front passenger display too. Expect Tesla-rivalling semi-automated driving systems, and a comprehensive suite of camera, radar and other sensor systems.
2026 XPeng X9 engines, performance and fuel economy

No information about what power options will come to the UK has yet been released.
However, looking at other markets suggests the British X9 could feature an 84.5kWh battery or a 101.5kWh unit, giving a range of up to 367 miles, if the WLTP figures used in Malaysia are anything to go by. That's in a two-wheel-drive model, with an electric motor that puits out 320PS and 450Nm of torque.
The Malaysia-spec cars quote DC charging at up to 317kW for the 101kWh battery, which means a 10% to 80% recharge in around 20 minutes using a suitable charger. The smaller battery charges at up to 283kW and takes the same time to refill.
