Volvo introduces EX30 Black Edition
- An EX30, but blacker
- Extended-range battery only, 2WD or 4WD
- On sale now
- Priced from £40,060
There's no shortage of all-black special-edition cars on sale at the moment, and the latest to join the dark party is Volvo, with the new EX30 Black Edition.
Perhaps fearing that news of a new Black Edition model will get lost in the flood of similar stories recently, Volvo hasn't officially announced the new EX30 Black Edition, but it's available to configure and buy on its website.
Slotting in between the standard EX30 and the rugged EX30 Cross Country, it sits exactly between the two in starting price and comes in either Plus or Ultra specification, with an extended-range battery and either rear-wheel drive with a single-motor, or a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup.
As you might expect, the EX30 Black Edition is very similar to the standard car, but... black. Black 19-inch alloy wheels, Onyx Black paint, blacked out badges, but curiously only deep-blue Indigo interior with upcycled denim upholstery. You can upgrade to black 20-inch alloys for £250.
2026 Volvo EX30 Black Edition price and release date

You can order the new Volvo EX30 Black Edition now, with prices starting at £40,060, which is £7000 more than the entry-level model. However, the Black Edition comes only with the extended-range battery, which means it costs only £200 more than the equivalent standard car.
The standard Black Edition is based on the Plus trim, and you can upgrade to Ultra, with a panoramic roof, 360-degree camera and more, for £3300. The single motor setup is included as standard – the Twin Motor Performance setup, which gives you all-wheel drive and boosts power from 272PS to 428PS, costs an extra £2500, meaning the top-spec Black Edition will cost £45,860.
