Peugeot gives the 408 a facelift for 2026
- Revised headlights and taillights
- lluminated badge and rear lettering
- New paint options and updated interior features
- Longer electric range on plug-in hybrid and E-408
Peugeot has given the Peugeot 408 fastback a refresh for 2026, with some new interior features, an exterior spruce up and some new paint options.
At the front there are new headlights and an illuminated Peugeot logo in the revised grille. At the back, the lights also have a new design and complement the illuminated PEUGEOT lettering that stretches the width of the car. There are also new alloy wheel designs in both 19-inch and 20-inch sizes plus a new Flare Green paint option.
Inside, there are graphical upgrades to the 10-inch digital driver display and some new materials including optional Alcantara synthetic suede and Nappa leather on higher trims.
The updated Peugeot 408 will come with a choice of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-electric power plus there are range improvements on the batteries. Peugeot will hope the changes will keep it competitive against rivals like the Polestar 2, the Citroen C5 X, the Renault Rafale and more.
2026 Peugeot 408 prices and release date

No on-sale date has been confirmed for the new Peugeot 408 yet, but it's likely be available in the spring. Likewise, no prices have been set yet, but expect them to stay broadly similar to the current model, which starts at just over £33,000.
2026 Peugeot 408 styling, interior and technology
The changes on the already-stylish 408 have been relatively minimal, with the exterior tweaks the most obvious.
The striking lights of the current model, styled like fangs, have been ditched, replaced by a more understated "three-claw" design both at the front and the back. Up front, there's a new-look grille and bumper, with an illuminated Peugeot shield sitting in the middle of the former. Across the back, the Peugeot lettering is now illuminated.
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models get new 19-inch Adakite wheel designs, which are standard on Allure and GT trims, while the plug-in hybrud GT Premium gets new 20-inch Monolithe designs.
There's a new paint colour too, called Flare Green. Exclusive to the Peugeot 408, its exact shade shifts in the light from bright yellow when the sun hits it to deep green when it's in shadow.
Inside, there's a new digital driver display with better graphics than before, and 3D graphics on GT Premium models (optional on GT trims). Peugeot has also swapped out some upholstery, with Alcantara as standard on GT Premium and optional Nappa leather.
2026 Peugeot 408 engines, performance and fuel economy

Three power options will be available, with a 1.2-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 143PS and promising up to 56.5mpg according to official figures.
The plug-in hybrid option has 237PS and promises up to 53 miles of electric-only driving on a full battery, up from 50 miles in the current model.
The 210PS, all-electric Peugeot E-408 has refined aerodynamics to increase its performance and now promises a range of up to 283 miles – an improvement of three miles over the current model.
When does the new Peugeot 408 go on sale?
No release date has yet been announced, but we'd expect to see the new Peugeot 408 go on sale by the spring.
What's the battery range of the new Peugeot E-408?
While the battery on the facelifted 2026 Peugeot 408 remains the same, aerodynamic improvements mean it has an official range of up to 283 miles, up from 280 miles on the pre-facelift model.
What's the electric range on the new Peugeot 408 Plug-in Hybrid?
Peugeot says the 2026 Peugeot 408 Plug-In Hybrid can manage up to 53 miles on a full charge, up from 50 miles on the earlier model.
