New Jeep Recon is a 650PS electric off-roader
- First "proper" off-road electric Jeep
- 650PS and 840Nm of torque
- 3.7 seconds from 0-62mph
- Arrives Q4 2026
This is the new Jeep Recon, the first electric Jeep specifically designed to go off-roading. It's basically an unofficial electric Jeep Wrangler, with removable doors and Jeep's Trail Rated badge, which it saves for its properly capable off-roaders.
With a hefty 650PS and 840Nm of torque, the new Jeep Recon will accelerate from zero to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds. But this is no track monster – it has five off-road modes to let it tackle inhospitable terrain plus a battery range of up to 250 miles. That's some way off the 403 miles you'll get from the new Jeep Compass Electric, but that's the pay off for dual motors and big power.
Production starts next year in the US, with cars arriving first in North America before then heading over to Europe and the UK.
2026 Jeep Recon price and release date

No firm prices or release dates have been announced for the new Jeep Recon, but we can expect cars to arrive on our shores in the fourth quarter of 2026. Seeing as the Jeep Wrangler costs from £63,465, we'd guess that the Jeep Recon's base point will be closer to £70,000 by the time it arrives.
2026 Jeep Recon styling, interior and technology

As you'd expect from Jeep, the Recon has bold, boxy and rugged styling, with the familiar seven-slot grille updated for the electric age and illuminated for a modern look. It rides high, with chunky wheel arches and underbody protection for when you want to head away from the tarmac.
The open-air ethos of the Jeep Wrangler is transferred here, with removable doors, rear-quarter windows and back window, all without the need for tools. A sunroof is available as standard, and a "Sky One-Touch Power Top" (a retractable soft top) as an option. At the back, there's a side-hinged swing-gate rather than a traditional boot lid, with a full-size spare wheel attached.
Inside, there's a big 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system (although this will depend on the market) and a durable feel to the materials.
Features include a two-tiered centre console with a large storage compartment lower down, and a modular accessory rail on the instrument panel designed for mounting action cameras, navigation devices and the like. Boot space is quoted as a whopping 1866 litres and there's an 85-litre "frunk" under the bonnet.
2026 Jeep Recon battery, performance and range

The Jeep Recon comes with a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive pushing out 650PS and 840Nm. That translates to a 0-62mph time of just 3.7 seconds. The battery is a 100kWh unit which will give an estimate range of up to 250 miles – it's not yet been officially certified through WLTP testing.
Charging details and times haven't yet been released. We'll find out more specifications for UK models nearer to release.

Is the Jeep Recon an electric Wrangler?
Not technically, no. The Jeep Recon is its own new model, but it does share a lot in common with the Wrangler, including its rugged appearance, removable doors and Trail Rated badge.
When does the Jeep Recon go on sale?
Production of the new Jeep Recon starts early in 2026 but it'll be made for the US and Canada first. We can expect it in the UK in Q4.
How fast is the Jeep Recon?
With 650PS from its dual electric motors, the Jeep Recon can shift – it'll manage the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.7 seconds.
