Kia EV4 GT prototype previews new electric hot hatch
- Kia EV4 GT prototype revealed in light disguise
- Due for release in 2026
- Will rival Cupra Born VZ as well as petrol hot hatches like the VW Golf R
- Full details yet to be revealed
Under the jazzy wrap, the car you see here is the forthcoming Kia EV4 GT. Based on the Kia EV4 hatchback, the GT model promises big power and performance, making it a rival not only for electric hot hatches, like the Cupra Born VZ, but also petrol-powered cars like the Volkswagen Golf R and the Audi RS3.
Kia is staying tight-lipped on the details for now, but we can expect the Kia EV4 GT to have beefier bodywork than the standard car, all-wheel drive from two electric motors, and a lot of power – probably around 400PS. Upgraded suspension and steering should make it feel sportier than the standard car through the corners, too.
We'd expect interior upgrades to match the vibe, so the Kia EV4 GT will likely feature extra-supportive sports seats and the price point should ensure plenty of standard features.
2026 Kia EV GT price and release date

No information about a release date or UK pricing has yet been released, although it's due to arrive at some point in 2026. The standard Kia EV4 tops out at just under £45,000, so we'd expect the GT model to be at least £50,000.
We'll update this article once we have more information.
