BYD unveils the Atto 2 DM-i: the UK's smallest PHEV
- BYD reveals new small plug-in hybrid SUV
- Two PHEV versions will be available
- Up to 56 miles of electric-only power
- On sale later this year, first deliveries in 2026
This is the BYD Atto 2 DM-i and when it arrives in the UK next year it will be the smallest plug-in hybrid on the market.
Inspired by the success of the BYD Seal U PHEV and following hot on the heels of all-electric BYD Atto 2, BYD has high hopes for this small crossover SUV.
While technically details are so far fairly sparse, we know there will be a choice of two versions and it will have an electric range of up to 56 miles on a full battery.
We also know it will get a few design tweaks to make it visually different from Atto 2 EV inlcuding a larger front grille and different bumpers and wings. But further than that we'll have to wait until more information is released. There'll be a new colour available, too, called Midnight Blue.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i is 4310mm long, which will make it the smallest new PHEV you can buy when it goes on sale. The Jeep Renegade 4xe is smaller (4236mm long) but it will have gone off sale by the time the BYD Atto 2 DM-i comes out.
2026 BYD Atto 2 DM-i price and release date
No prices or firm release date has yet been released for the BYD Atto 2 DM-i but starting prices of £28,000 are expected.
The car is due to get its full European debut in Luxembourg this week with a media reveal planned for November. Pre-sales will begin soon after that, with the first deliveries expected in Q1 of 2026.
