The new Chery Tiggo 8 is a seven-seat SUV with plug-in hybrid technology that is set to launch in the UK within weeks.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 will be the first in a range of new Chery models to be sold in the UK. Chery is a sister brand to Omoda and Jaecoo.

Many of the dealers that will sell new Chery Tiggo 8 are already offering Omoda and Jaecoo models.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 will be launched in Super Hybrid guise. This will use a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering an overall range of up to 745 miles.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 was revealed at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it was showcased blasting up the famous Hill.

Measuring around 4.7 metres long, the new Chery Tiggo 8 is a three-row, seven-seat SUV that will rival models such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Peugeot 5008, plus slightly larger alternatives like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

2025 Chery Tiggo 8 prices and release date

The new Chery Tiggo 8 arrives in the UK within weeks. Showroom deliveries start on 1 September 2025. 

New Chery Tiggo 8 prices have now been confirmed – and staggeringly, they start at just £28,545 for the 1.6T petrol model. 

The new Chery Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid is called Super Hybrid. Even this is super-competitive, priced from £33.545. This ensures it undercuts its seven-seat SUV plug-in hybrid rivals by a huge margin.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 will also come with a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty. 

2025 Chery Tiggo 8 styling, interior and technology

The new Chery Tiggo 8 has clean, discreet styling very much in the vein of rivals such as the Volkswagen Tayron. The firm has eschewed the more expressive design of, say, the latest Hyundai Santa Fe.

At the front, the new Chery Tiggo 8 has an extra-large grille embellished with plenty of chrome detailing. The firm hopes the Chery logo in the centre will become a familiar sight on UK roads.

At the side, the new Chery Tiggo 8 has crisp creases that run from both front and rear wings into the doors, while the windows are framed with chrome for a premium look.

A full-width LED light bar at the rear of the Chery Tiggo 8 gives a modern appearance and there’s an extra-large ‘Plug-in Hybrid’ logo.

Inside, the new Chery Tiggo 8 has a large freestanding touchscreen and additional display in front of the driver. The centre console is high, with wireless charging functionality. The automatic gearlever is positioned on the steering column.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 will offer upmarket features such as ventilated seats, panoramic roof, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. There’s also a cabin filtration system to improve air quality.

With three rows of seats, the Chery Tiggo 8 is a seven-seater, although the firm prefers to describe it as ‘5+2’, indicating the third row of seats won’t be the most spacious.

Dimensions such as boot space of the new Chery Tiggo 8 will be confirmed ahead of its late summer launch.

2025 Chery Tiggo 8 engines, performance and fuel economy

The entry-level new Chery Tiggo 8 features a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. It produces 147PS for 0-62mph performance in 9.8 seconds. 

The new Chery Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid version uses the ‘Super Hybrid’ tech already seen in the Jaecoo 7. This pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a dual-motor electric hybrid setup.

The Chery Tiggo 8 produces a system total of 204PS which, in the Jaecoo 7, gives 0-62mph performance in 8.5 seconds. It also has a generous 365Nm of torque, which should give decent pulling power even when driving seven-up.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 will have an electric range of up to 56 miles with a fully-charged 18.3kWh battery. When using both the battery range and a full tank of petrol, the new Chery Tiggo 8 boasts a range of up to 745 miles.

The new Chery Tiggo 8 is front-wheel drive and the architecture is likely to be similar to the Jaecoo 7, suggesting we can expect similar driving dynamics.
