New Honda Jazz priced from £13,495

Published 23 July 2015

The new Honda Jazz, which arrives in UK showrooms in early September, will cost from £13,495 for an entry level S model.

The price goes up to £14,595 for a mid-range SE specification Jazz, while a top-of-the-range EX will cost from £15,715.

The base price represents a significant hike compared to today’s Jazz S, which is powered by a 1.2-litre 90PS VTEC petrol engine and costs £11,695. As with every car, the passage of time has brought myriad trim levels and special editions for today's, soon-to-be-discontinued Jazz, but a 1.4-litre EX today costs £15,995. That means the new Jazz EX appears, at this stage, slightly better value by contrast.

The most expensive version of the new Jazz is the EX Navi CVT (automatic) version, priced at £17,425, while Honda is already advertising PCP payments of £149 per month for an S model, at 5.9 per cent APR with a 30 per cent deposit.

The new Jazz is longer than the outgoing car, with Honda claiming owners will benefit from both boot space and passenger space that are unrivalled in the class. That said, the statistics show that the new Jazz actually offers less cargo space than the outgoing car, with 354 litres in the new car compared to 379 litres in the outgoing.

The gulf is even greater in terms of the maximum (rear seats down) boot capacity, where 879 litres plays 1320 litres in today’s Jazz.

Still, Honda’s impressive Magic Seat system remains, and the company claims a substantial loading length of almost 2.5 metres.

Standard equipment is substantial, with S models getting air conditioning, cruise control, automatic lights and an automatic low speed braking system to mitigate urban collisions.

SE models get alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and a Driver Assistance Safety Pack, while EX models get smart entry and start (keyless), climate control, a better stereo, front fog lamps and bigger (16-inch) wheels.
