Race Retro set to showcase new cars and classics

Fri, 11 Dec 2009
Some of the top racing drivers of years gone by are gearing up to take part in next year's Race Retro festival at Stoneleigh Park.

The annual event will see the Coventry venue taken over by stunning new cars, as well as racing classics, with a particular focus on the iconic Alfa Romeo marque.

Alongside the cars themselves, the stars of the two-day event will include Italian motor racing legend Bruno Giacomelli, who was behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo 179/182 F1 car for more than 80 Grand Prix races between 1977 and 1990.

However, amateur motor racing will also be celebrated at Race Retro as Alfa owners will be invited to display their new cars and their classic motors in a specially-dedicated tent, while race teams and engineers from the Italian manufacturer will be on hand to answer questions and hand out motoring advice.

Furthermore, the event, which is due to take place between March 12th and 14th, will see hundreds of stalls set up on the grounds of Stoneleigh Park, while motorbike enthusiasts will also be well catered for.

At the same time, it has also been confirmed that the Jim Lee Racing Collection of Norton motorcycles will also be given its public debut at Race Retro 2010.
