New cars lined up for tribute at Goodwood

Wed, 01 Jul 2009
New cars have been lined up to appear at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will feature a tribute to a Formula One (F1) star.

Sir Frank Williams has been involved with the sport for four decades and said it will be "great" to see everyone who has supported him over the years.

A total of 13 Williams cars will be at the event, such as a Williams-Cosworth FW08 and a 1970 De Tomaso Cosworth Tipo 505.

Popular commentator Murray Walker is also due to visit Goodwood to talk about Williams, as will Damon Hill, David Coulthard and Alan Jones.

Last week, the organiser listed ten reasons why visiting this year's Festival of Speed was a wise idea.

It noted the theme - True Grit: Epic Feats of Endurance - and said celebrating this will be no less than six current F1 teams.

Also planned is the Sunday Times Supercar Run, which is a collection of "contemporary exotica" including a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and the first UK showing of the Audi R8 V10.

The festival runs from July 3rd to 5th.
