Toyota Land Cruiser V8 'takes security award'

Fri, 19 Jun 2009
Drivers looking at buying a car that will not be an easy target for thieves may want to take a trip to their local Toyota dealership.

The manufacturer's Land Cruiser V8 has scooped first prize in the 4x4 class at the 2009 British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.

Accolades were handed out by Thatcham and representative Mike Briggs said auto makers had made great strides forward in helping to make life difficult for thieves.

"Car manufacturers can be proud of what has been achieved in recent years in terms of security," he stated.

Contenders were judged on how effectively they prevent criminals either stealing them or breaking in.

This is the second consecutive year the Land Cruiser V8 has been honoured in this way.

In other motoring news, Toyota announced this week it was expanding its iQ range with the introduction of a model that features a 1.33-litre engine.

The iQ3 boasts CO2 emissions of 113 g/km.
