New VW Golf estate may tempt car buyers

Tue, 26 May 2009
Motorists planning on updating their current vehicle in the next 12 months may be impressed by the latest offering from Volkswagen.

According to the manufacturer, the new Golf estate is greener and safer than its predecessors.

Buyers keen to reduce their carbon footprint will be able to opt for a BlueMotion version of the car - designed to offer environmental benefits and improved economy.

Meanwhile, in terms of safety, the model includes a range of features designed to protect the vehicle's occupants, including ABS, ESP, six airbags and whiplash-optimised head restraints.

Available to order from October, the car is due to start appearing on UK roads early in 2010.

The manufacturer stated: "The new generation Golf estate has been unveiled featuring a fresh look, revised engines and the latest comfort and safety technologies."

Since it was launched in 1993, more than 1.2 million units of the model have been built across the world.

In related motoring news, Volkswagen recently took the Editor's Award at the Fleet World Honours.
