Motorists who struggle when buying a family car to find a model that is kind to the planet may be impressed by the latest offering from Daihatsu.

The new Materia mini MPV releases 169 g/km of CO2 and boasts fuel economy of 46.3 mpg - which means it could reduce a driver's petrol bill as well as their carbon footprint.

In addition to this, the manufacturer claimed the vehicle is perfect for clans who need a lot of space.

With a sliding rear bench, the car can adjust so it either offers increased boot space or more legroom for passengers in the back.

Daihatsu said this "Tardis of vehicles" is ideal for people with kids.

Spokesman Paul Hegarty stated: "The Materia is a superbly stylish urban warrior that's equally happy taking the whole family on holiday or nipping about in the city."

Meanwhile, Daihatsu recently claimed its Terios model is also a great choice for transporting children about.
